It looks like the clock has run out on the Unforgettable TV show for real this time. A&E has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering season five.
Unforgettable follows Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a police detective who has hyperthymesia — a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything. She works with Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) and other members of the Major Crimes team of the NYPD to track down the city’s most nefarious criminals. The rest of season four’s cast includes Alani Anthony, Kathy Najimy, and E.J. Bonilla.
The series began on CBS and was cancelled after one season but the network later reversed their decision. They renewed Unforgettable for a second season and later, for a third.
The network cancelled the show again in October 2014 but A&E revived the series five months later and ordered a fourth season of 13 episodes. They started airing in November and concluded in January, averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 740,000 viewers. Compared to season three’s ratings, these were down about 87%.
The ratings for Unforgettable were expected to be lower for its run on cable but it’s unlikely that A&E expected them to be that low. The cable channel ended up airing the final four episodes in one night, seemingly an attempt to just get rid of them.
Sony TV, which produces the series, isn’t expected to make any efforts to revive the series this time around. Cast contracts have reportedly already expired and some, Montgomery included, are considering new series pilots.
What do you think? Did you like the Unforgettable TV show? Did you watch on A&E? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
just like a&e! just like the disappearance of “Glades”. a great show that didnt deserve this nor did the viewers deserve to be treated like this. A big onion to a&e.
My morher and I love this show. It was unfair to cancel the show based on ratings when it never received the proper advertisement to know when and where it would air. Plus, you can’t end the show without letting us know what happened after AL got shot. If you absolutely must cancel it, then at least air a few last episodes to properly wrap up the story line (in a good way). I really would like to see another full season, though.
This is a great show. Please don’t cancel it. Just be sure to let us know when and where it will be available. It never received the publicity it deserved, so how could the ratings be expected to be great. There are so many other shows which deserve to be canceled. Not this one!!
My daughter and I really liked the show, as I am sure many others did, however, it is unfair to the show and the public when the public had absolutely no idea that Unforgettable had been moved to A&E. A&E has priors when it comes to not telling the public what show is on when
I actually liked the series, plus how can you guys just leave without letting us know what happens to al burns after he gets shot… you can’t do That.. thats like buying a chocolate and not eating it, everyone loves chocolate. please bring unforgettable back. now I can’t go on with my days, my OCD is kicking in
Loved the show but because it was cancelled then picked up & because it changed nights, networks etc it became near impossible to find what channel and/or what night it was on!! Due to very poor advertising no one even knew A&E picked it up! The show never should’ve been cancelled to start with. It was my understanding that it was a top show of CBS so its my opinion that the network made a huge error in judgement when making the decision to cancel the show!
Great series should not be canceled, still has a great story lines to continue.
Loved the program. Even had it on my Pvr list
We loved the show. But we had a hard time finding it. Definitely not enough advertising!
I can’t believe they left it like that. While I would love to see it show up again somewhere can’t they at least give us one more show that wraps things up? Letting us know what happened to Al?
The show should be on Netflix. Netflix should pick up the show. The show will do.a lot better.
Totally, 100% agree.
Only if Netflix let’s viewers know we aren’t mind readers like A&E thinks
I REALLY ENJOYED IT AND WILL MISS IT.
My husband and I really liked the show as well. Once we found it again on A&E we watched every episode. Some of these shows just bounce around from time slot to time slot and “get lost”. When there is lack of advertisement or previews for this and other shows, it isn’t unexpected that ratings go down.
I really, really like this show. My husband even liked this show. I didn’t realize it was moved to A&E. Perhaps if many of the fans knew this, your ratings would have been higher. Although I could have been the only one in the dark. I always tell myself I will get used to the powers that be taking away all the shows that are either fun to which or intelligent. Just not there yet.
No, it is obvious that most of the fans were left high and dry. A&E just expects people to know I feel sorry for any show on that station it does not have a chance
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!This show is amazing and I don’ t know why it hasn’t found their audience! It needs time and marketing to gain a following. Very sad to read this.
