Last season, the Live + same day ratings for Once Upon a Time dropped more 30% on ABC. Can the series recover? It’s tough to attract new viewers when a show like this one has so many characters and such a complex back story. Could this fantasy drama be cancelled or will it be renewed for a seventh season? Stay tuned.
Once Upon a Time follows the continuing adventures of fairytale characters whose tales unfold between their storybook world and Storybrooke, a small town in Maine. This season, the good guys will have to contend with inhabitants from the Land of Untold Stories and the return of the Evil Queen. The large cast includes Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Lana Parrilla, Emilie de Ravin, Colin O’Donoghue, Jared S. Gilmore, Rebecca Mader, and Robert Carlyle. Expected to recur are Beverley Elliott, Raphael Sbarge, David Anders, Jessy Schram, Tim Phillipps, Ingrid Torrance, Peter Marcin, Hank Harris, Sam Witwer, Tzi Ma, Gabrielle Rose, Kristin Bauer van Straten, and Agnes Bruckner.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

Last year comparison: The fifth season of Once Upon a Time averaged a 1.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.40 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like the Once Upon a Time TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season?

I dont get everyone who say that they want the show to be canceled! Many people love this show, I love this show, and I’ve watched it since season 1 and i will continue watching it till its very last episode and I dont understand why people are so against season 7 ! If you dont want to watch this show, than dont, but why do you need to try and stop this show if other people wants’ it to keep airing?

OUAT is a TV show franchise that is an example of how serving business before art, aka the story, ruins shows and why enterprises like Netflix and Cable do a better job at crafting stories. How OUAT is managed is why broadcast TV shows are losing the fight to streaming services and web shows. Business as the sole driving force is great for selling widgets but in the creative industry, it should serve art not stmother it. OUAT ishowrunners preoccupation with syndication and ancillary sales is killing this show. The preoccupation of character Hook and the damage done to the… Read more »
I totally agree with that the ratings don’t matter because a lot of people can’t watch it live. For example I am from Australia so I don’t get to watch it with everyone else. I’m sure the ratings would be higher if they counted the people who watch it online. I think OUAT has done an amazing job and hope that it goes on for at least one more season 🙂
Watched S1 – S4, then read the recaps for S5 and now S6. The whole Rumbelle thing finally pushed me over the edge. They can’t get rid of Belle because the audience would get upset about their “missing princess” but they don’t know what to do with her, either, and she’s a bad role model for girls. The writers should have left it at “Skin Deep” as they intended and not caved to fan pressure. A dysfunctional relationship going nowhere, Belle is a doormat and now a baby in the mix. Bad message for girls. “Yes, you can see good… Read more »
I love this show and this season is wonderful!
I’d wrap it up by May 2017 with a good, upbeat and plausible finale that is planned, and well done. Extending it any longer will ruin it, and we’d likely not get a decent finale for the series. They have time to do that now, so they should plan for it. The ratings are abysmal, and I suspect the writing is already on the wall at ABC. I have watched it, regularly, since season 1.
The writers’ obsession with subverting everything and everyone to make every viewer love Hook as much as they do has ruined this show. Put it, and its audience, out of their misery.
I say this as someone who was a fan from season one, Once Upon a time has outstayed it’s welcome, everything from season 4 onward has been been a disaster and this show needs to be put out of its misery.
I hope there is a 7th season coming from a loyal fan who’s watched the show since season 1 and continues to love each and every season. And this rating chart shouldn’t really matter because some people can’t watch live and watch on hulu or stream from other sites. Love the show keep more seasons coming
Cancel it already and put everyone out of their misery!
Season 6 of Once Upon a Time has been great so far, much better than Season 5!
Think you should do another season for once apon a time
Once has become too repetitive and the writers don’t know what to do with their characters so they destroy them, it’s time for Once Upon a Time to call it a day.
Once Upon a Time has done it again… and by “it”, I mean have repeated themselves to the point of me not really caring, anymore. After all, I have seen this story in seasons… well… all of them. The writers of “Once Upon a Time” seem to fall into the rut of retelling the same story, over and over, just with different aspects of the story being taken by different characters. If that isn’t bad enough, consider the feel of this season… sort of a video game aesthetic. Each week is a new level, they battle the boss, and on… Read more »
