Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

Done with ABC – EPIC FAIL!!!!
What disappointing news……..Like someone said, no real reason to turn to ABC at all….Anyway they can re-consider?
I am extremely disappointed with ABC for canceling V. I believe that the networks numbers are wrong, and I am sure the network will continue to suffer due to bad choices.
A definite mistake on their part….. ABC you blew it again with another dumb decision…
but then you keep crappy shows on the air and cancell good shows like V.
this is so stupid I have watch the entire original V so I can better understand the nature for no reason. ABC sucks that’s all I can say
Bummer. Though I must say I’m not altogether surprised. The scheduling was strange. I didn’t even know V’s second season had started airing until it was halfway through. So we wound up watching it all online. There was no season pass available on iTunes. Why ever not? It was difficult content to access. What I’m not sure TV execs grasp is that cable is going the way of the land line. If I’m in my 30’s watching everything online, then certainly teens and 20-somethings scoff at the idea of cable television. Hell, they don’t even have email addresses anymore. So… Read more »
I’m extrememly disappointed that this show has been cancelled! IMO the BEST written, most perfectly cast, challenge to the imagination EVER presented on TV. I just don’t get how a bunch of exec’s could possibly sit around a conference table and reach the conclusion that the best show they present needs to go. Guess it doesn’t take much vision to reach the top at ABC!
ABC has once again ruined something before it had any chance to succeed. They didn’t have the patience and cut short the second season from all its potential attraction; if season two hadn’t aired so unfashionably late, more viewers may have come back sooner rather than what was considered too late. Expression from ABC’s poor judgment, marketing and placement makes this a damn shame. I can’t believe Desperate Housewives, which is more sci-fi than V, will have another year to blemish the demographic character of ABC, while V drifts into “lost hope”. V was intentionally bludgeoned and asphyxiated into a… Read more »
Just what I expected from “Already Been Cancelled”. Now I have absolutely no reason to watch ABC at all. Their GMA show sucks, DWS is getting really old after so many seasons, and they cancel V and No Ordinary Family; which were two good shows, although not stellar rating performers. I’ll be watching more USA network and Syfy programming now. ABC can stick it as I’ll not be watching that network anymore.
It is a real shame, but not totally unexpected. How about the SYFY Channel taking it on? That would be the perfect outlet for this series.
Networks put good shows on bounce them round different days and time schedules and when viewers are really involved in the show if the networks feel the show doesn’t have enough viewership they cancel the show. HELLO NETWORK PEOPLE not all the viewers that you want to watch your shows can some people are toooo busy to watch but why punish the faithful viewers that you do have
Great show. Terribly disappointed. ABC has nothing anymore, not even MNF.
This is why ABC is at the bottom of the pile. The show was well done, it took Mash I believe three years before it caught on. Time for changes at the top of ABC programing!
Gutted, V was a fantaic show. BIG fail from ABC. All those people downloading the tv show…did this effect the ratings or is this another sign that the networks have no clue on how to show a TV show, great idea on putting a BIG break halfway through a series – perfect way to put people off and find something else to watch or do maybe?
This is rediculous!!! V cancelled cause I’m sure it’s all about $$$$$ factor/gambling with the network!!!! Look at how many new shows comes on these days , throwing them at us & see if they get instant success like bad Fast Food!!!
V was one of the Best Sci-fi on TV for a very Long time… This is Sad what TV Stations are doing….. I Like to Tell ABC to F-OFF!!!!!!!!!!!
