Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I’ll have to be honest. The reason I don’t get into shows (especially Sci-Fi) on network TV is because they never last more then a season or two.
Sure there are the exceptions, namely The X-Files. But most other Sci-Fi on the big 4 are doomed from the beginning.
It seems that network TV will be a haven for Reality TV, dancing and singing contests, and home videos of people falling off ladders.
I’ll continue to pass on watching the network and stick to movies.
Science fiction, no matter how good it is, has a difficult time surviving against the general public and network TV executives. V was a much better program than many shows that were renewed. I think it was a well done series (better than the original). Too bad. I’ll miss it. I just hope it doesn’t get replaced by another silly reality show.
I will no longer watch abc. The V was one if the only decent television series out there to watch.
Not just myself, but many at work and in my family loved it. I’ll just have to stay away from that network and thier product line.
Very unhappy, I loved this show, I loved how some of the original characters from the old V were making an apperance as well. Thought it was well done. You should at least do a 2 hour farewell show, just to end it, and let us know what happened, after that season finale I was so stoked to see what was next. 🙁
My whole family is very disappointed that this show was cancelled. We really enjoyed the show and were looking forward to the next season. Now it appears this will not happen. Isn’t there anything someone can do to bring this show back?
Too bad, it was just getting really interesting. Now I want to know what happened!
Everytime there is something slightly entertaining to watch on tv they pull it! Just seems like they replace with another reality show. We don’t need another talent show of any kind or a food show or a model show. Just something different and entertaining. Stop taking decent shows away. We get hooked and then never get areasonable ending.
Dear ABC Programming Director,
Just want you to know that, going forward, I will refuse to invest any time into any program you try to launch until its successful conclusion. Perhaps at that time I will purchase the series. But it just doesn’t make much sense for me to get involved in story lines that you don’t bother to conclude.
Sincerely,
Your coveted demographic.
That sucks, you get hooked on a show and when you wait and search to see when the continuation will start you find out it was cancelled. This is the 2nd time V has been canceled with out a conclusion. Gee with LOST, ABC I thought was for the viewers and put the a series to rest with out making the viewers feel cheated for spending their time with the network for their stories. ABC did the same with the series “Defying Gravity”. I am so disappointed with ABC if this is true and if so I will think twice… Read more »
This is not cool to leave a series unfinished. I was enjoying this so very much.
There are so many unanswered questions.
they did not make the show available online — sealed its doom
yes I am upset that the show ended the way it did. V was the only show I looked forward to watching. It just stopped with no explanation and no conclusion. how frustrating, I’ll always wonder what happened to Anna, Ryans daughter and the rest. bad decision for the network, but you can redeem yourselves by bringing V back in a big way. The sooner the better.
NOt Happy at all…Really enjoyed the show…:(
I think it was total crap that they ended V. Its most probably the best series of a sci-fi type that was totally awsome and quite mysterious and very edgy as well!!!!!
PLEASE BRING IT BACK TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE NEED ANNAH!!!!!!!!! AND THE OTHER V’S!!!!
