Amazon is headed to church. Deadline reports the streaming service has just bought a new drama, Vatican City, from Michelle and Robert King.
The Kings have previously created CBS’ acclaimed legal drama The Good Wife.
Vatican City will follow a Rome-based American female reporter who suddenly becomes the papal spokesperson when the new pope takes her under his wing. The series will explore the Catholic Church and their long history of sexism as well as the dynamic of working for one of the most powerful and influential men in the world.
The Kings are set to write the pilot, with CBS TV Studios producing.
The Good Wife is currently in the midst of its seventh season, still delivering solid ratings.
