TV show description:
This TV series is based on the true story of former Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid), a fourth-generation rancher tasked with bringing order to Las Vegas in the 1960s. It’s a gambling and entertainment mecca that’s emerging from the tumbleweeds.
Ralph Lamb wants to be left in peace to run his ranch, but Las Vegas is now swelling with outsiders and corruption which are intruding on his simple life. Recalling Lamb’s command as a military police officer during World War II, the Mayor appeals to his sense of duty to look into a murder of a casino worker.
This begins Lamb’s clash with Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis), a ruthless Chicago gangster who’s moved West and plans to make Vegas his own. (The character is based on real-life crime boss Marcello Giuseppe Caifano.)
Lamb has two deputies who help him keep law and order. His diplomatic and even-keeled brother is Deputy Jack Lamb (Jason O’Mara). Deputy Dixon Lamb (Taylor Handley) is his charming but impulsive son.
The ambitious Assistant District Attorney, Katherine O’Connell (Carrie-Anne Moss), grew up on the ranch next to the Lambs and also lends a hand in preserving justice.
Episode #21 — Sons of Nevada
After Porter Gainsley’s bombing of the Tumbleweed and attempt on Katherine’s life, Lamb and Savino decide to team up to take out their common adversary once and for all. To prove his commitment to the task, Lamb hands over the tapes with the recordings from the bug in Savino’s phone, and then the mobster and former sheriff get to planning their assault on Gainsley.
Since the ranching mogul is too heavily protected at his home, they decide to target him at a livestock auction, but that plan goes awry when Dixon shows up and holds Gainsley at gunpoint. A firefight breaks out and Lamb is forced to save his son and flee, giving Gainsley time to regroup and amass more artillery for the coming war.
When Jack is ousted as interim Sheriff by more of Gainsley’s men, he and Dixon join forces with Lamb and Savino, and together they craft a plan that involves using Jones the hitman to put Gainsley in a corner. Jones plays his part well and leads Gainsley and his thugs into a trap, where Lamb gives him his freedom as a reward.
After an intense firefight, Lamb gets the drop on Gainsley and decides to arrest him instead of killing him, setting the proper example for his son and staying true to his morals.
In the end, Lamb gets his Sheriff job back, putting him at odds with Savino and his plans for growth in Vegas yet again.
Meanwhile, Jack plans to propose to Mia, but his plans are derailed when she breaks up with him after finding out about the bug he planted in Savino’s phone.
Tommy pursues Mia even harder, and the two wind up spending the night together. After Gainsley is taken into custody, Jack goes to Mia’s place to fight for her, but is crushed when he discovers Tommy there with her — in nothing but a bath robe.

What do you think? Do you like the Vegas TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
here is the justice. The Kardashians are still filling the airwaves, just to name one of the ridiculous shows that are still on the air. Especially most of the reality shows. I think Judge Judy garners around 10 million viewers, a full 4 million less than Vega so what’s the problem. Atleast they ended the series on a note that wasn’t a cliffhanger.
I have alwaya been a fan of Dennis Quaid and I thought he and Chiklis worked great together. Vegas in my opinión was a classy show that I only recently disvovered as I do not live in the States. Really disappointed to find it was cancelled after only one season
Again you missed what a great new show and stick with you losing ways. I don’t understand how you could miss the best show in years. You keep up the bad understanding of what we want to SEE.
I’ll watch other stations rather than yours.
Get real and put a good if not great show back on where it belongs.
This is one of the best shows that CBS had and the problem is getting the correct companies running their ads during this time slot thus bringing in the bucks the network needs. Get wise networks or always remain at the bottom.
It was a great show ..I remember Ralph in the 70″s he was still honest and tough cookie
GOD BLESS HIS SOUL ..THEY SHOULD ERECT A COUPLE STATUTES FOR HIS MEMORY .
It was a great show, pulled you in, and kept getting better and funnier. It got cancelled because it was a CBS show. They like to have only high , high numbers, so even tho Vegas had a nightly viewership of 14 million viewers, it was cancelled. How about about that?
At the time, lots of shows had half the viewer ratings, and stayed on the air.
My family and I really enjoyed this series and are very disappointed a second series has not been commissioned. I cant think why the show was not popular enough to continue with it especially as its based on a true story!
ANOTHER GREAT SHOW THAT WAS CANCELLED MOST NETWORKS DONT EVEN GIVE SHOWS A CHANCE BUT STUPID SHOWS LIKE JERRY SPRINGER ARE STILL ON THE AIR AND SHOWS LIKE VEGAS, REVELUTION, FIREFLY, V, TRU CALLING BIRDS OF PREY GET CANCELLED JUST TO NAME A FEW BRING BACK VEGAS IT WAS ONE OF 2 SHOWS I WATCH AND BOTH GOT CANCELED COME ON PEOPLE
Probably cancelled just like longmire cause there wasn’t enough young viewer advertising market which drives network decisions on show choices
I enjoyed the show Vegas. I have lived in Las Vegas for years, and recall the Lamb days.I believe that it should have been continued.
Best show of its time.would love second series.
Have been saying all that and more since this show was taken off TV – Was a great show and too bad they (the powers that be) didn’t realize that, instead of all the crap that’s on in place.
This was a great show! Myself, my 89 year old mother, my 59 year old husband, his kids ranging from 30 – 37 and his grandkids all loved this show. Please, please, please bring it back!!! Jane
Have been saying this, and others also for a year now. Is anyone reading and listening to these folks who want this great show back on the air? PLEASE bring it back so the folks who like to watch good writing, good acting and a good all around show can watch something worth while.
Yes, if nothing changes, nothing changes.
Forget it.
Apparently, the people who prefer pointless, trashy and mindless reality shows and tired, old crime dramas win.
At least we have the satisfaction of having enjoyed 21 episodes of a good show.
John, you said a mouthful !! America is changing, shifting gears and it all hinges
on sponsor’s satisfaction if their product is selling or not. Apparently they’re happy with the mindless smut-oriented few that’s spending big bucks !! We are the last of a breed
who enjoyed quality entertainment. I’m still hoping that “Vegas” gets picked up by TNT
or a “yet to be named” network. Keep your fingers crossed…….
I’ve had my fingers crossed for a long time now. At least I have all of the series that were shown on DVD. Would love for a network to pick up Vegas and get rid of all the trash that’s on now.
WAS A GREAT SHOW BUT GOOD SHOWS SEEM TO ALWAYS BE REPLACED BY A BUNCH OF PIN HEADS
Vegas petition sites are available at:

There are several petitions at this location for Vegas. There’s a tab at the top for media/arts which brings down a drop box for the television category. There is a search box where you can type in “Vegas”, which lists all of the current petitions for this show.
Sign any or all of them so we can get this show back on the air.
FYI
Thanks for your reply, T.J.
Maybe it will fall on deaf ears, but at least we can go down fighting!
If we could garner enough support and bombard the network(s), surely it would come to the attention (sooner or later) of the execs whose livliehoods depend on viewer satisfaction. It’s worth a try, anyway, don’t you think?
We’re not users o social media, but I’ll bet there are some out there who could enlist the support of others through Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Count me in , lets drop the crap and bring back the shows that make you want to turn the TV back on .
