The Venture Bros will be back. Earlier this month, the creators of the Adult Swim animated series spoke with TVInsider about season six and their future plans for the show.
Season six of The Venture Bros just ended on March 20th.
Speaking about season six, co-creator Jackson Publick said the season was far more planned out than previous seasons:
It’s almost never as preconceived as what we’re doing this season. There’s some stuff that we’re thinking about, and we don’t know when we’ll ever get there, but a lot of times if I create a character or a subplot, I’ll have way more to say than is going to fit in one episode, or I’ll know that I want to take it some place in the future and I’ll drop some breadcrumbs toward that.”
He added that both him and co-creator Doc Hammer are currently writing season seven, which will pick up right after season six ended:
The story we’re writing now would have been the season finale, but we didn’t get to it. We weren’t ready for it when it came time to write the last two scripts. And there was actually a little confusion for a while as to whether or not the Gargantua special counted against our 10-episode order, so we were writing like four different stories at the same time not knowing whether we had two scripts left or four. When it turned out we only had two, we were like, “Alright, I guess we should do our finale.” And then we thought, “No, we haven’t really earned it yet. We need to flesh out this Monarch arc a little more….” So we made a judgement call and wrote two other stories that we were very excited about.”
Hammer also mentioned a possible flashback for season seven, featuring the now long-gone Venture compound:
Yeah, the whole flashback, and somebody is prowling around the area. So the physical space still exists.”
No word yet on when season seven is expected to premiere.
What do you think? Do you watch The Venture Bros? Did you watch the season six finale?
I love this show, and there’s nothing else remotely like it on television…but the wait between seasons for new shows is brutal!!! Adult Swim (Cartoon Network) – PLEASE pump some money into The Venture Bros so they can get the episodes out more quickly!!
im pretty sure the co creators of this show only make episodes when they run out of money like 100% sure and any time someone criticizes how long episodes take they go oh youre ungrateful youre ungrateful…..except its not ungrateful when you buy every season on dvd its hoping your investment in their project was worth it.
Also as long as they avoid using corporate hacks like the Disney/Marvel and Warner/DC chumbucket purveyors, a comic book of the Venture Bros or better yet an annual graphic novel would be wonderful. It has more than enough material.
Just avoid letting the usual suspects anywhere near it. For example anyone with the phrase “fan favorite” associated with them.
Got to avoid flashbacks when it takes so long to advance the plot. Years between seasons isn’t going to support lazy story telling, especially when the show is usually high quality story with bold decisions plot wise.
BEST SHOW EVER, PLEASE MAKE ALL YOUR SCRIPTS INTO SHOWS, AND FINISH WITHOUT GOING TOO FAR AS SOME GREAT SHOWS HAVE AND RUINING IT OR SELLING OUT.
definitely make more than 10 episodes or make them 60 minutes each.
I love this show
It smart, very well written and incredibly funny.
Sometimes I feel it jumps forward without answering a few questions
But that disappointment is quickly brushed aside with how witty and funny it is
Good job
Such an awesome show.. best entertainment around.. would love to see more episodes soon
I love the show if it were up to me I would green light another 10 seasons. The story line is awsome. Love the monarch. Keep up the great work. GO TEAM VENTURE!!!
I DONT CARE how long it takes to produce another run of episodes. When it comes to The Venture Bros. the quality comes first, and Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick do not disappoint. Never has a show hit all of the references i recognize, which i assumed to be long forgotten by time. Let these two geniuses work their magick. I’ll be around when the next set of episodes air.
Such a warmhearted, well crafted show. I can’t get enough!
Some of us have real jobs! 8 episodes in 4 years???? We work everyday. Really only 8 episodes!!! Best show on television. Get to work docks. Sincelery, Chad
You keep makin em, I’ll keep watching and buying the . Hilarious, creative, and brilliant. Great show with great characters. Please keep em coming, I have seasons 1 thru 5 on DVDs and season 6 on Amazon and gargantuan. I’ll put em on and watch all the way through. Thank you
The show is perfect. Just perfect. Keep doing whatever it takes that will keep you wanting to do the show, OK? Ideally, I’d love to see the Venture boys go through the full process of coming of age, taking the Venture mantle up in their own ways, and coming full circle as they themselves tend the legacy and prepare a new generation of adventurers for life in the crazy Venture world!
It is a pity that the season ended where it did, but it wouldn’t have made sense to reach the proper season finale conflict-climax/cliffhanger prematurely. Your show should be given more episodes per season. 10 is not enough for a show like this; especially when most of adult swims air time is running reruns of big network shows in perpetuity. Too many other networks do the same with the same shows too; Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob’s Burgers all get enough separate airtime as is. Even some of their original programs like robot chicken have been rerunned into stale-oblivion.… Read more »
Amen man, they re run so much of the same crap while giving their fresh continuing shows way less time then they deserve. They should cut the re runs in half or even more and focus on the great new stuff that is still coming out. Also instead of airing new shows every little bit many of which are pretty meh they should focus on the gems and give them room to really do their things. Ending Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a good example, it went on plenty long at least but it could have gone on forever and… Read more »
Great Season. The finale was unfortunate. It was a great episode but it was a terrible finale. too much was left up in the air and unresolved in my opinion. Leaving us reason to want to watch the next season is one thing, but I feel like overall the season didn’t conclude anything. Maybe its just me, but I think a finale should have at least a little more catharsis than that.
Better then if they had rushed the finale with only 2 episodes left to try and conclude so much plot, that would have been even more disappointing I bet. Hopefully next season gets planned out even more and they have the room to hash out all the plots they have been working on.
