What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Hallmark Channel cable channel, When Calls the Heart stars Erin Krakow, Jack Wagner, Kevin McGarry, Chris McNally, Andrea Brooks, Kavan Smith, Pascale Hutton, Ben Rosenbaum, Johannah Newmarch, Martin Cummins, Kayla Wallace, Viv Leacock, Natasha Burnett, Vienna Leacock, Elias Leacock, Hrothgar Mathews, Loretta Walsh, and Amanda Wong. Inspired by the Janette Oke novel, the TV series follows Elizabeth Thatcher (Krakow), a young teacher from a high society background. She’s assigned to teach in a coal country classroom and it’s a life-changing experience. Now a widow and single mother, Elizabeth faces new challenges but enters into a new relationship with mysterious gambler Lucas Bouchard (McNally). In season nine, Hope Valley is in a state of growth, with the foundry’s progress and the evolution of key relationships. The Mayoral race has the town buzzing with a few members of the town running against one another. Elizabeth and Lucas focus on their relationship beyond courtship, and as she gets to know Lucas better, she learns about his past which gives Elizabeth pause about their future.
Season Nine Ratings
The ninth season of When Calls the Heart averaged a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.10 million viewers. Compared to season eight, that’s down by 25% in the demo and down by 13% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Will Hallmark Channel cancel or renew When Calls the Heart for season 10? This show remains Hallmark’s highest-rated series, but it’s also been on the air for nine years. I think it will be renewed and could continue even if Krakow opts to leave at some point. The series will end someday, but I don’t think that will happen yet. It got renewed
I absolutely love When Calls the Heart. Season 9 was absolutely wonderful. Lucas, Elizabeth and little Jack make the perfect family don’t they? I loved how Lucas involved Jack in the proposal. I can’t wait for season 10 it will be awesome!
I still do not trust Lucas.
Unfortunately this show ended years ago. Erin needs to branch out and work elsewhere. They took her character completely away from her and it doesn’t even come close to the book. I used to love this series but stopped watching 3 seasons ago when writing was all over the wall. The is no longer about the story of a strong Woman trying to establish her life outside of her family riches.. it’s become a predictable cookie cutter bowl of goo. CANCEL THIS THING!
I would be terribly upset if When Calls The Heart is canceled. I have watched this series since the very beginning. I saw the movie first and got hooked immediately. I have gotten my friend (a male) interested as well. We have been watching it together ever since. He even paid for the Hallmark subscription.
WCTH is the best show on TV ! We sure hope for a S10 !
This show has removed itself from the warm and funny show it was when it started. The story of a teacher from a rich family who turns her back on the wealth to serve in a small town and meets and falls in love with the local Mountie was so wonderful. The town was gritty with actual issues yet and should have ended in the sweet love story of the teacher and Mountie who married for true once in a lifetime love. If you feel that way change the channel. I myself love the show! I plan to continue to watch it. I also love When Hope Calls. I plan to continue to watch it as well. We need more shows like these two. Good storyline, clean and wholesome. Just all around great family tv.
I have loved this show since the very beginning it is so touching and heartwarming and filled with love and it fills my heart when I watch it I do so hope that they continued the series I think it would be a mistake to cancel it so please bring on season 10 I cannot wait just see another season and I need to know if they’re going to bring back when hope calls that one was another good one too that I haven’t seen any more of and I wish I could
I have watched this show from the beginning and I have purchased every season to rewatch when winter sets in. I eagerly await season 10. It has never disappointed
