Xena: Warrior Princess now has a fighting chance of returning. Deadline reports that NBC’s revival of the popular ’90s series is making progress.
The original action-adventure series premiered in 1995 and ran for six seasons until its cancellation in 2001.
So far, NBC has apparently hired former Lost staffer Javier Grillo-Marxuach to write the revival, alongside original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi.
Though, the one key part of Xena: Warrior Princess is still missing. Star Lucy Lawless, who played the Amazonian warrior, has still not committed to reprise her iconic role. Currently, Lawless stars on Sam Raimi’s new project, Starz’ Ash vs. Evil Dead.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the original Xena: Warrior Princess? Would you watch a reboot without Lawless?
Big fan of xena! Come on lucy lawless!
No. Definitely not interested if Renee and Lucy don’t reclaim their roles. There is no reason that they can’t and then rename it to further on their legacy with new cast. Loyal fans made this the hit it is alongside the original cast and crew. As much as possible, please honour this.
I’d watch it with Lucy Lawless, Renee O’connor, and…..I forget the character who plays Eve’s real name is all the old recurring should be on too.
Absolutely no reason why Lucy and Rene can’t reprise their roles. No reason to watch if they don’t.
They both look fantastic & if they’re willing??? If not? I’m out…
I would watch Xena, I always watched it., with or without Lawless.
