The new Paramount Network has ordered its first new, original series — the Yellowstone TV show. The family drama hails from The Weinstein Company and John and Art Linson. As previously reported, Spike TV is rebranding as Paramount Network, early in 2018.

PARAMOUNT NETWORK ANNOUNCES FIRST NEW, ORIGINAL SCRIPTED DRAMA SERIES, “YELLOWSTONE”
Written and Directed By Taylor Sheridan and Produced by The Weinstein Company and John and Art Linson
New York, NY, May 3, 2017 – Paramount Network, television’s new premium entertainment brand launching in January 2018, has greenlit a new, original, epic, sweeping cinematic scripted family drama series, “Yellowstone.” The series is written and directed by Oscar(R)-nominated and critically-acclaimed screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Hell or High Water,” “Sicario,” “Wind River”) and executive produced by The Weinstein Company with John and Art Linson (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Fight Club,” “Heat”). “Yellowstone” is slated to go into production for 10 one-hour episodes this fall and will debut on the network in Summer 2018.
“Yellowstone” is the first new big and complex project developed for Paramount Network.
“Yellowstone” follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with partners like Weinstein and John and Art Linson in developing Yellowstone and am grateful that it has found a home in the Paramount Network,” said Sheridan. “The show is both timely and timeless. As much as it explores themes painfully relevant to the world today, it explores the very essence of family, and how the actions of one member can alter the course of generations.”
“Yellowstone exemplifies what a Paramount Network original dramatic series will be with premium storytelling, high production values, compelling characters, and the best talent behind the camera and in front of it,” said Keith Cox, President, Development and Production for Paramount Network.
TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein commented, “Taylor has penned yet another incredible story that dives into the fascinating tensions and rivalries of the modern American frontier and we’re excited to explore his talent in a longer format. Kevin Kay, Keith Cox, and the entire team at the new Paramount Network have a clear dedication to creating the highest caliber TV and we’re thrilled to continue developing these amazing projects with them.”
Sheridan is widely-regarded as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after writer/directors with recent projects such as “Hell or High Water,” starring Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine, which received an Academy-Award(R) and Golden Globe Nomination for Best Screenplay, and “Sicario,” starring Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt, and Josh Brolin which garnered various nominations including the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award for Best Screenplay. Sheridan made his directorial debut with “Wind River,” starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will premiere nationwide this summer.
Executive Producers for the series include John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Harvey Weinstein and David Glasser.

What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Yellowstone TV series? Will you check out season one, when it premieres on Paramount Network?
This show sucks.
We are missing Longmire and love this series….it IS rough, but interesting and fairly real. E
xcellent series. A keeper!!!!
For those of you who were disappointed by the few curse words or sex scenes luckily theres The Hallmark or Disney channel and just so you know the 700 club is on twenty four hours a day.
Im watching the second episode right now this is so good. Reminds me of a more intense current version of Dallas. Came across this by accident glad I did. The story and acting are excellent.
We visited Yellowstone years ago and thought that this series would show the beautiful place that it is…wrong! The filthy mouths and minds of your writers have thrown away the opportunity to make this a great series.
I was so looking forward to watching Yellowstone after reading an article in America’s Horse about the actors and the horses. Was so disappointed with the filthy language and sexual scenes. Not sure I will watch any other episodes except possibly to watch the horse scenes–maybe with the sound off 🙁
looked to new show very disappointed!!! filthy language unneccasary . turned off show will mot recommend to anybody very disappointed. make something without the f bomb gd typical for spike network most their shows are trashy anyway.
After watching the first episode I was extremely disappointed with Kevin Costner, that he would jeopardize his reputation with such a low quality program. With the filthy gutter language, the cursing, and on scene sex, none of which was becoming to an actor of his stature. I will not allow this cheap porno soap opera into my home, it belongs on the late night adults only station.
We were looking forward to this program until we watched the first episode. The language was so bad we turned it off. What a disappointment!! The GD’s were used three time in about 15 mins. This kind of language is totally unnecessary.
Hollywood just doesn’t get it. The public does not want to listen to that.
Mike & Tina
I am disappointed in this program and also in Kevin for the filthy language, sexual content and the violence. A good story doesn’t need this kind of content. I will not allow this program into my house.
i absolutely love this show !!!!!! so true to the real life !please keep this show going
whats better than kevin costner in his element love love love this so much!!!
Watched with great anticipation, very disappointed, terrible unnecessary vulgarity, was hoping for something in the vane of Longmire series. Changed the channel after 35 minutes. Paramount has a loser for its first venture.
I agree, I had looked so forward to this. Why all that found it’s way into a potentially fantastic show, I don’t understand. It won’t be a loser if they start editing. As an adult, remembering many wonderful westerns that didn’t have the filth, I didn’t see the point or how it made the story better.
how do we get Paramount Network?
Check your listings. It used to be Spike TV.
How do I get Paramount Network???
It is the old SPIKE channel, for us on Spectrum it is channel 76. All cable service are different.
I am looking forward to the series Yellowstone. Love westerns and Kevin Costner. Need more series like this.
I watched the first show and loved it. But, even though I set up cable to record, none of the other shows have recorded ???? I have changed my recordings to first run and re-runs & hope that I will see the rest. It was very clear, both in TV guide and the preview that it was for adult audiences. So, I was not offended because I expected the language & sex.
