Tonight marks the end of the first season of You, Me and the Apocalypse on NBC. Is the Thursday night series coming back? Would you watch season two?
A dramatic comedy, You, Me and the Apocalypse revolves around the last days of mankind. It’s discovered that a comet is on a collision course with earth in 34 days and an unexpected chain of events is set in motion. The cast includes Mathew Baynton, Joel Fry, Pauline Quirke, Jenna Fischer, Kyle Soller, Rob Lowe, Gaia Scodellaro, Paterson Joseph, Megan Mullally, Diana Rigg, and Fabian McCallum.
A UK co-production, this series first aired on Sky 1 in late 2015. While it seemed like the series was envisioned as a “one season show”, the door was left open for a second season.
When the series didn’t perform very well for NBC here in the States, that seems to have closed the door on the prospects for a second season and You, Me and the Apocalypse was “cancelled“. The loose ends in the finale may never be tied up.
But, what do you think? Would you have watched a second season? Are you satisfied with the way the show ended?
I want a season 2. I have really enjoyed the show. Need to figure out how to get this to a season 2
I really enjoyed this show. It was very entertaining. I think alot of the problem with viewers was it was on a night to where this show was up against other popular shows that people have been watching for years. Maybe try a different night. Although the I hated to see rob lowe killed off you did leave a few loose ends. Jamie and rhonda’s husband could have survived.. right?? It seems jamie was possibly the new Messiah with him parting that river. Perhaps not but it did seemed that God was definitely with him and for him to perish… Read more »
I really enjoyed this series. The story was believable and the characters were strange but interesting, and very endearing. I don’t understand why it did not do well in the ratings, but probably people don’t give a chance to programs that don’t contain gruesome murders, and the all pervasive autopsy. I actually liked the religious implications surrounding the end of the world. If my vote counts, I would be very happy to view a second season.
I would definitely watch Season 2!
I don’t understand this is better than DoctorWho I need another season what will happen to Jamie outside the bunker
There should absolutely be a second season of this show! It is the first show in a long time where I made it a point to watch it within 24 hours. I just had to know what was next! I was the only person I know watching it, so I wasn’t watching because I was worried about spoilers (yes it got low ratings). If they leave it on demand people like me will talk about the show and get the word out. I have no doubt that this is the type of show that can see a huge bump in… Read more »
Seriously, why leave us with so many loose ends if you’re just planning to cancel? Why not leave us with a show that works in just one season? (And why does the Hulu description say, “In the season one finale” if it’s the ONLY finale?)
BRING IT BACK!
This was one of the most gripping, funny, shocking, and faith-filled stories I’ve had the pleasure to watch. Yes, I would love another season! I will definitely buy this on DVD, whatever happens.
Love this quirky show!
I feel like everywhere I go online there’s praise for this show and people who want to see more. How do we make it come back???
Why?????, we love it, we want to see the Second Season, now!!!!!!
Please
I enjoyed watching this and watching my wife yell at thebtv. You cannot leave all of the unanswered questions well unanswered!! There needs to be a season 2!!!
You have got to be kidding me!!!! There HAS to be a season 2!!!!! My husband and really enjoied this show….and Ariel cannot win!!!!
I enjoyed it until the last episode. The ending was horrible–and not very imaginative. And way too many loose ends. If I’d known how it was going to end up, I wouldn’t have watched. What a waste of some good actors, and potentially a really good story.
Such a great show! It’s a family night for us when it’s on. PLEASE bring it back!
