Because ABC hasn’t publicly cancelled The Nine, some fans have been holding onto the hope that it might return for a second season. The similarly ratings-challenged Six Degrees is still holding on — it only recently wrapped production, is returning on March 23rd and may actually be renewed for another season.
Well, casting news this week seems to indicate that, officially or unofficially, The Nine is finished. It would seem that the castmembers have been released from their Nine contracts since the network recently announced that two of the key series actors have been cast in new ABC projects.
Scott Wolf will star in an as-yet-untitled sitcom as the leader of the “Law Dogs,” a group of associates trying to make partner in a top law firm.
Tim Daly will guest-star in the upcoming two-hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy that will act as a pilot for the proposed Kate Walsh spin-off series. If the episode is well received, Daly will be the spin-off series’ McDreamy-like character. Also in the cast is former ABC Day Break star Taye Diggs.
Will we at least get to see the six unaired episodes of The Nine? In January, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPhearson said that the remaining episodes may still air this season. As time goes on, that’s looking more and more unlikely but we’ll keep you posted if that changes. Stay tuned!
The Nine cancelled yet again! What is up w/ ABC, they get everyone’s hopes up to actually finish out a series and then give us 1/2 of it and stop again! Come on!!! This is a great show, just give us the ending we all deserve. Where’s the loyalty to the FANS???????
I think ABC is wrong to start such a TV program that needs a certain amount of episodes to tell a story and then stop showing it halfway through. I would only hope that others plan to do what I will do. Stop watching ABC and steer clear of the advertisers of this network. Is it any wonder ABC is down in the ratings when they have this disgusting resentment of their viewers? It is called commitment Mr McPhearson, ever hear of it? Ever see a football game cancelled with 5 minutes to go in the first half?
I am really excited for Tim Daly. He is a good actor not to mention good-looking. But I sure do hope they show the remaining episodes of “The Nine.” I really, really liked that show.
