TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Wonderful show, unusual concept, good acting & scripts. Too good to cancel. Fox made
A bad call canceling this one
Not happy at all. One of the best shows from 2013 season. It should have been renewed for several more seasons.
One of the best shows of recent times with the very real chance of becoming a massive hit As the well acted characters developed. This show could have run for years easily ! When will these idiots stop cancelling great shows after one series when they get an audience hooked and baying for more?
Once again, have had a really decent show cancelled. The characters were just starting to gel and become likeable. Have a feeling that sci fi isn’t flavour of the month. The numbnuts in charge need a good kicking.
OMG this was the best series on TV at the moment.. am gutted its cancelled.. was looking forward to the next series… why????????? 🙁
Absolutely gutted urs cancelled!! I don’t usually like futuristic shows but Almost Human ticks all the boxes!!
Not happy, it a great show. I love it, bring it back!!!
Very disappointed the show was cancelled. Was one of the better shows on tv. 🙁
This is why I am done with regular tv. I am tired of investing time into a show to have it last once season. This Almost Human was nota perfect show, but it was one of the best on TV. This was one of the best acted series on television.
This is a great show! Why on Earth cancel it?!!
I thought it was one of the better new shows this season. There were some clever entries about futuristic concepts that slid seamlessly into the storyline. The characters were well conceived and the actors had barely been given a chance to explore background when the show was cancelled. It still had a lot of potential!
Great show !! should get rid of some of these dumb ass talent shows were all tired of !!! Bring it back !
Dear Fox Network,
How could you cancel a perfectly GREAT show? Plus, it had two of the most handsome men on TV: Karl Urban and Michael Ealy. I loved that show. I watched every episode, I told all my girlfriends to watch that show, and they did. Please bring it back from cancellation! Please, please, please!
This show is a definite renew why would fox shoot themselves in the foot like this? The characters were great together the chemistry was right on. This is one show I didn’t want to miss one episode.
This is stupid to cancel a show people. The people running the networks are as big of idiots as the people who are elected as leaders of the country. What the hell were they thinking!
