Kate Walsh is headed to Netflix. Deadline reports the Private Practice actress will co-star in the streaming service’s new series 13 Reasons Why.
The drama comes from writer Brian Yorkey and producer Selena Gomez. The cast includes Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford.
Based on the 2007 YA novel by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why “follows a boy named Clay (Minnette) through an emotional night when he receives a shoe box of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah (Langford), following her recent suicide. On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to 12 peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving 13 reasons explaining why she took her life.”
Walsh has been cast as Hannah’s mom. She joins Derek Luke, who will play Hannah’s guidance counselor, Mr. Porter.
Filming on the series has just begun. Netflix has not yet released a premiere date.
