24: Legacy just aired its season finale last night, but will there be a second season? Executive producer Manny Coto recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the FOX TV series.
The 24 reboot stars Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an Army Ranger who becomes the target of a terrorist organization. The show’s cast also includes Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky, Anna Diop, Ashley Thomas, Charlie Hofheimer, Coral Pena, and Sheila Vand.
In the interview, Coto said FOX loves 24: Legacy and he hopes the network will renew the series for a second season:
I’m sure Fox would have wanted the ratings to be higher, but the fan reactions have been greatly gratifying. My guess is it’s a decision that will come some time in May [when all the bubble shows are evaluated], in concert with Fox’s decisions on their overall programming for next season. But I’m hopeful! I think the show is really good and I think Fox loves the show, so we’ll see.”
What would happen in season two? Coto revealed his plans:
There are ideas that we’ve floated around. We all know where we want to take the next season. I could say pretty confidently that it would probably be Eric as a CTU agent, and my guess is it would be in a place that’s not necessarily the U.S. As a young agent, he’s stuck somewhere. He’s not getting the choicest assignments. It might be fun [to focus on] someone in some backwater CTU station who ends up stumbling on a larger plot that could bring down the country. My feeling for next season would be something where the country is at stake in a large way. It involves Jimmy Smits and the country and his presidency. It would hopefully go big, and be more along the lines of Live Another Day, and be larger than life and still explore relationships, like Eric and his wife. Are they still together? Are they not?”
And what about any of the original 24 characters? Who would Coto bring back?:
Tony Almeida would definitely be in there, and I would love to bring back Chloe as well.”

I really liked the show but thought all 24 episodes would be shown. After watching the last show I thought they rushed the ending and ended the show prematurely. Hope it’s back next year!
Love the show but it would have been nice to see all 24 hours not the short season we just watched
I would watch another season. Jack Bauer is a tough act to follow. Chloe needs to be brought back. If not, I don’t know if I would hang in there. Tony Almeda was a good choice to bring back. But, Chloe was one of the prime characters that held the show together, after Jack Bauer, of course.
Hang in there! I hope Chloe returns as well. I’m hoping she’s been placed into artificial stasis, where she only appears to die in order for her husband to pursue his political career. Kiefer is an extremely hard act to follow — Hollywood royalty, and all that, but Corey did a great job. He’s a young actor with time to grow. I hope the show returns.
I’m a 24 fanatic and would definitely watch it and I truly hope they renew it.

I loved it, find a role for Eric’s brother too! I almost enjoyed watching Eric Carter better than keifer Sutherland olaying the main role! Definitely needs to come back!
Love the show hope it’s back for season 2. Great casting & leave you on the edge of your seat. Did not want it to end.
I really enjoyed Legacy. Corey Hawkins did a great job. But they could have done without the wife/brother storyline and added more Tony and more back story on Henry Donovan. And bring back Chole O’Brien!!

Too bad you couldn’t appreciate the hard work and realism that went into this pilot. It was fantastic, and the acting was great! My experience in quality television viewing is that it normally takes two or more seasons for character personalities to be developed. I look forward to Season 2 — with great expectation! This is one of the finer U.S. television series exported to Europe. More please.

I would definitely watch as would all of my friends. There are many, many possibilities and directions for this show to take. Please renew it. Keep in mind that Seinfeld’s rating the first season were low. Imagine if they had cancelled that show!
