This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

Love this show! Hate to see it go
Another year, another time to cancel the best shows on TV. And yet some of the dumbest, and sometimes most immoral, shows get new life. We record 5-0, NCIS (& LA), Criminal Minds, Mentalist, Gifted Man, CSI-NY, and Blue Bloods…and Gifted Man has become our favorite, along with Blue Bloods. It takes awhile to get into new shows, but this one is absolutely fantastic.
This is a very good show I don’t watch tv much because of what is on but the gifted man keeps my attention and the cast is wonderful they all blend together. I just find it hard to believe that with all the crapy show out there that CBS would cancelled this show if that the case they need to come up with a better way of rating tv
This is one of the better shows on TV this year. Since we’re usually not home on Friday nights, I record it and watch it later or the next day. Why doesn’t CBS just move it to another day and give it another chance? There is so little to watch, and this drama happens to be well-written, intelligent and interesting. Too bad it’ll lose out to some lousy reality show that costs much less to produce. Please don’t cancel The Gifted Man. Give it another season. My husband and I watch alot of TV and it is one of our favorites. I especially love seeing Patrick Wilson for one hour each week.
Please do not cancel this show. There are not many good ones going and this is one of the best. I am picky about what I watch too. Reason it doesn’t have the numbers is because we kind of people are in the minority. Most people prefer mindless programming and so if it’s all about numbers….. A sad day if it goes. Hope another network picks it up then.

this is a great show, I look forward to Friday evening so I can find out what will happen next. Most of my friends and my sisters like it as well.

I will be very unhappy to see this show go. “A Gifted Man” is one of the two TV shows I enjoy the most right now. Please don’t cancel! It is really nice to watch (even though it isn’t real life) a doctor that is willing to bend over backwards to help another human being. As far as I’m concerned, this is the best doctor show ever done (including ER).
Darn…I don’t watch much TV. This is just about the only show I watch. I don’t like reality nor cop shows. So of the slim number of shows outside those two categories, this is my favorite. Very creative – I like the little bit of mystery and the huge plays on synchronicity.

Please don’t cancel this show …. It’s the highlight of my week. I love all the cast members, and the stories are unbelievably great! PLEASE GIVE THIS SHOW ANOTHER CHANCE! Many of my friends love this show too.
This was one of the best new shows this year. I think maybe the timeslot (Friday) hurt it little. I know I couldn’t watch it live because I’m never home at 7pm central time on Fridays so I recorded every single episode and watched it at another time. If the show was moved to Tuesday or Wednesday it would have had much higher ratings. Too bad. I hate to see a good show go.
