This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

I’m shocked that CBS may be cutting the awesome series ” Gifted Man” from it’s programming. I love this show, and I just can’t believe that it may not be back for a 2nd season:(
I just started watching the show and finished the season 1 and i gotta say i m amazed how drawn I was to it until i started looking up season 2 and to my great surprise its cancelled it was a really good show as good as house and i think they should give it another shot i would love to see season 2!!!!!

Are you kidding! Finally a show that’s interesting, has all good characters that are great in each part and you are concelling it! I sure would like to know who these mysterious people are that have black boxes or whatever and can say the numbers are too low. Where do they live and who gives them the power to know if my television is tuned in or not? Each character on the show gives it just the right amount of variety. Doesn’t overdo the genius of the character, “Michael Holt”- unlike the show and the character, “House”.

Great usage of real medical situations and environments common to the poor-I don’t know about the rich, never been that..never had that..never been there!

I REALLY loved this show! I love the medical dramas, but most of them go more into the soap opera than the medical. I am normally not a fan of “ghost” characters or supernatural, but this one was written well. She is merely an occasional voice – the show doesn’t center around her. I think this show is exceptional, and I would hate to see it go! Could another network pick it up? A big bonus in our house was that my 11 yr old son was also into the show. I’ve liked the show since day one. I do DVR it because Friday is a bad night for watching TV which may have someting to do with it’s bad ratings. There is a lot worse on the air that has been renewed, go figure.

I didn’t watch it at first because the name kind of put me off. It seemed too *****-ish. I tuned in while channel surfing one night and found it is an interesting show with good stories and acting. At least as good as most of the stuff out there. And it wasn’t another freaking ‘reality tv’ show. FWIW, reality tv has probably been good to me… it has been what has made me pretty much give up watching tv and doing other more productive stuff.

My favorite show by far this season
I literally just checked the guide to see if A Gifted Man would be on this evening. I haven’t been able to catch the show since the beginning of March, so I decided to google it to see what’s up. To my dismay, the show could possibly be cancelled. I looked forward to watching it every friday. I am a creature of habit and have my designated show for each night of the week. Please reconsider CBS, get rid of some of those reality shows, you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all.
