There are 26 letters in the alphabet but NBC’s A to Z TV show only lasted five episodes before being cancelled. The peacock network has decided not to order any more installments beyond their initial 13 episode order.
A to Z follows the story of Andrew (Ben Feldman) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti) — two young people who are very different. Their relationship shouldn’t work and yet it does. Is it true love forever or just a detour in destiny? The rest of the cast includes Christina Kirk, Henry Zebrowski, Hong Chau, Lenora Crichlow, and Katey Sagal.
Debuting on October 2nd, the series got off to a poor start with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.79 million viewers. Viewership fell 24% in week two and the ratings kept falling every week after that. This week’s installment, opposite CBS’ returning sitcoms, hit a new low with a 0.7 in the demo and 2.49 million viewers.
Based on the numbers, it’s no surprise that NBC is cancelling A to Z. It is a bit surprising however that the show is staying in production. Eleven episodes have been shot and two more will be produced. Hopefully, the sitcom’s writer will be able to adjust the remaining scripts to bring a fitting conclusion to Andrew and Zelda’s story.
For now, NBC plans to air the eight remaining episodes. The Blacklist will take over the Thursdays at 9pm timeslot on February 5th.
Companion sitcom Bad Judge has also been cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the A to Z TV show? Do you think that NBC should have cancelled it? Would you have watched a second season?
the stupid people that cancelled show are f@#ken stupid ********…..
It is really disappointing that this show has been cancelled. I’m a 31 year old male, placing me in their target demographic. This was a quality show. Clever, funny, witty, and romantic. Seems to be more money in shows that have a negative affect on society.
Love this show! One of the few shows I can watch with a toddler in the room and not have to mute or turn it off due to graphic nature or dirty language! Please let us finish the story line! I miss my Zelda and Andrew….
My daughter and I loved this show 18 and 38! It was programmed to record on my dvr and we always made sure to watch it before the next weeks show aired. It was so funny! They were a cute couple and we loved to see their relationship grow! Bring it back NBC!
You wouldn’t know a good show if it bit you in the ass! I’m done with you, NBC!
Really not happy about both cancellations. Bad Judge too? I’ll go back to net flix
Are you out of your minds?? We love this show! You cant just leave us hanging. Bring it back NBC.
I love this show. Me husband (47), daughter (14) and myself (46) love this show. Hard to find shows to watch as a family. I hope they rethink canceling.
i love this show. please see it thru to the end
where could i go to complain about all the cancel shows….
I loved this show and followed it weekly. Sad to hear it’s been canceled before we got to the end of the alphabet. I would definitely support seeing it through to the end on a second season.
I hate you NBC I’m 15 and I honestly loved that show that was a awesome show now how will we know about there wedding or breakup
I loved this show me and my sister 17 and 25!!! We thought it was great. NBC you’re always canceling great shows I don’t understand that. Another great show down the drain
This was a great show! There are no shows that are for young adults that are this funny that are not about drugs and sex.. What a horrible decision NBC! Networks keep cancelling all the wrong shows. I also feel bad because I only have time to watch most shows online after they were aired, and I suppose that doesnt help the ratings! But I watched it each week! and I am sure there are others like me out there! BRING IT BACK.
Cancelled? My wife and I loved this show. Bring it back NBC! Or I hope someone else picks it up. Funny show. Sad it’s canelled. Did I mention BRING IT BACK?
