NBC is sticking with About a Boy, their new sitcom that airs after The Voice on Tuesday nights. The sitcom has been renewed for a second season.
About a Boy revolves around a songwriter (David Walton) who has a big hit that sets him up for life financially. His carefree world is turned upside down when a charming 11-year-old (Benjamin Stockham) and his single mom (Minnie Driver) move in next door.
The comedy has been perfoming well for the network and is currently their highest-rated comedy. It’s also their third-highest rated scripted series overall, falling behind only The Blacklist and Chicago Fire.
What do you think? Do you like this series? Are you glad there’s going to be a second season or do you think it should have been cancelled instead?
One of my favorite all time comedies. Three very talented actors who play off each other so well. Although genuinely funny, each episode has a compelling storyline. Looking forward to season two.
This is the best new sitcom on TV. So happy to hear it has been renewed. The acting and actors are great especially the boy. I hope Will returns to CA.
It didn’t do much for me at first but the characters grow fast and the story is pleasant. The comedy is actually pretty darn good too.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! I see one story that says it’s canceled and others saying it’s renewed. Hope the renewed story is true. It is so nice to see a positive roll model story.
Like the show very much. Need more comedies
Also like growing up fisher
I love this show and I am glad it will be renewed for a second season
Love the show! Happy it will continue but hope Will comes back to CA
I also LOVE the show and hope that Will moves back to CA. Less sex would be nice but overall really enjoy the show and the characters.
I really think this show is great…it has me laughing and crying every episode…even though I can only catch it on Hulu please keep it going
We love this show. The characters are so easy to love and relate to. This show will be one if those shows. That we watch for many seasons. Keep it coming.
Love this show!!
I think about a boy is both touching and funny! Love it!!!
I’m so happy that About A Boy has been renewed. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every episode this season. But the 2 episode season finale last night was just the best! I found myself both laughing and crying throughout both. The writing is outstanding and every actor is just amazing! Thanks, NBC, for making the call to keep such a terrific show!
Yay, Yay, Yay!!! 🙂
I, for one, hadn’t even turned on (or watched) a television for months. Until the Olympics, that is. I would have missed out on a fantastic series if NBC hadn’t promoted it at the end of the Olympics closing ceremonies. Very, very well done! I truly love this show, as well as “Growing Up Fisher”. Keep both, and I will have to take back my conviction that broadcast television is a complete wasteland.
This is the best news ever! This show brings together the hippie chick type, with the x-generations guy, and a perfectly lovely child actor who is so real, and honest he becomes the glue to the series. Well acted, written, and timely in these days and times, with single mothers often not depicted in a real way! NBC I was sorry to see SMASH go, as I love musical theatre, but you got this one right, BRAVO. Keep programming like this going, and stay true to taste, and you will win out, because we will find you!
Magi – Right On!! I miss SMASH also… it was Great!!
