While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.

I loved Aftermath. It was one of the shows I actually watched every week, not let it build up in my DVR. I was really looking forward to season 2. It is disappointing when you put the effort into a show and it gets cancelled before it gets a chance to build momentum.
I loved this show. I was glued to my TV and watched all the episodes back to back on Demand. I couldn’t get enough. So bummed that such a great show would be cancelled. Give it a chance or at least if they are going to cancel a series I wish they would wrap it up and not leave us fans wondering.

I love that show! Aftermath is one of the best shows I’ve seen on Syfy channel and was really looking forward to season two. I had stopped watching sci-fi because they had stopped producing entertaining shows then I find this little jewel and now it’s canceled! That really sucks I think this may turn me off of SYFY from now on because every time I find a show that I like on this channel it ends up getting canceled, so why bother

The awful shows on SYFY that are aired all the time like FACE OFF, should be canceled..This show is more entettaining then watching people create fake makeup/costumes.. what about the stupid reruns they air ALL DAY? (Ghost Hunters!?!?) I’m over it…syfy sucks.

I can’t believe Aftermath has been cancelled. I loved the show, I couldn’t get enough of it. You get a good story and now leave everyone hanging. Why cut a show that actually made you think and try to figure out what was next. CANCEL Candle Cove, that show is awful.
I loved this show it’s Better than a lot of other things that were renewed. My son and i watched it together. It should not have been cancelled
Aftermath is awesome. I loved all the stor lines there is never a dull moment.
Should have kept this show. It had good plot, twists, characters, and could go in a lot of directions. Cancel Candle Cove – a piece of junk and waste of film – and keep Aftermath, please.
Never should of canceled it. A TV show that made you think. To bad the powers that be weren’t thinking.
This show actually made me watch syfy! I really loved Aftermath and am upset it’s canceled very disappointing. I agree with so many of these comments. Cutting a great show like aftermath was the wrong decision. Imo
