While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.
Finally, what do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Aftermath TV show? Do you think Syfy and Space should have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
Loved the first season, actually just found it and watch all the episodes, sorry to hear there is no 2nd season.
I liked the show, but I wasn’t sure what direction it was going. I was confused at times. Thanks anyway.
Enjoyed this first season and was looking forward to next season. Thought there was great potential . some ones acted too quickly . Shame we liked the chemisty within the group, all this had great promise. Syfy are the losers I’m AFRAID.
I just binged this show and have to say love it. I agree with everyone else this is getting old with Syfy. I really haven’t watch syfy much anymore they just cancel evything that I watch that seem good. Have fun syfy. Your slowly losing everyone to other means and shows.
I watched every episode of Season 1. It was the first time I watched ANYTHING on the SciFi channel. That will probably be my last.
Well this doesn’t surprise me. Now we’ll never know where or what she was pulled into. First Whispers now Aftermath. Any show that has a new unique story line seems to be cancelled. Too bad there isn’t a law that says if you start a TV show, then if you want to cancel it, you must provide CLOSURE for the fans instead of just leaving us hanging in the wind.
Totally agree!
Really bummed that they cancelled the show – drives me crazy when I finally find a good show to watch and they go and cancel it and leave everyone hanging. Going to stop watching Syfy channell
I can’tell believe it was cancelled give me a break. The only thing that last’s on TV anymore is stupidity. How do they k now who is watching what most people dvr now aday’s. They don’the even get a chance on the show’s.
So disappointed, great cast with a captivating storyline. It’s syfi on the syfi Network why would you pull the plug on one of the only series the network has that is truly syfi… in the future I won’t bother watching a new series on this network just to have the plug Pulled!
I have to agree with Wayne Clark. I’m getting really tired of getting into a show with a open end season finally and then having into the get canceled. It makes me not want to start any new shows because it will probably get canceled and not be worth investing the time.
How are we supposed to trust watching any new series when they can pull the plug on all the watching viewers after 13 weeks. This is very annoying as i was really looking forward to seeing what ead going to happen next. Ok cut the season sort but at least leave the viewers with some sort of ending. Very dissatisfied with the service given.
Just binge watched and like the show. Why don’t you give it a chance since I just found the show. Love the cast
We just binged watch the series and really like it only to find out it’s cancelled
I am starting to turn away from any shows on this network because they never give their shows a fare shake. This show had potential so I stayed with it but the amount of shows that are available with Netflix,Amazon Prime,Hulu and all the prime cable channels why should we invest time in a show that’s going to be yanked after only one season. This show should have been given a second season and chance.
As always we get hooked and want more. Then the bottom falls out and no more show. How about Netflix taking it over! We as fans really don’t like it when we get invested in the show and then find out at the end that there is no second season. Yes you left us with questions yeah we can contemplate what the ending would be. Just like an end of a good book but sometimes just sometimes they continue it . But to cut off so soon and on that cliffhanger. When a lot of dumb comedy shows get to… Read more »
