What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. My wife and I have been watching Alaskan Daily and ha e fallen in love with the show. Can’t wait to see how this season finishes and how future seasons will keep us caught in the very intriguing web that the first 5 episodes have given us. It takes alot for a show to interest both of us. Keep up the great work.
I absolutely love Alaska Daily. As far as I think this is the best show on TV. It basically brings awareness to what happens to many Alaskan women. Please do not cancel.
Best new network of the new season. Accurate (been a major print journasm force for 50 years) and many friends who have no media background love it as much as I do. Hillary Swank got all the premiere episode and she is at her best but has an outstanding supporting cast. The research behind the compelling scripts and the sets indoors and out are summing. Cancelation would be criminal.

Absolutely love it…. Subject matter, cast and Alaska. Refreshing it is not New York , Boston or Chicago.
I hope Alaska Daily does not end and they continue it further to more seasons. I feel it’s a decent show with a lot of mystery and truth behind how indigenous people have been treated over the years. That truth needs to be out there just like the mistreatment of other races/cultures.
It’s awesome. After 44 years in journalism it’s refreshing to see an honest, intriguing newspaper story. Also another journalist I know came from the US to Alaska and feels the same way.
