What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. Do not cancel Alaska Daily. It’s content for missing aboriginal women is very appropriate for this day in history.
Love this show. It was important that viewers who do not know about missing and dead Alaskan natives. I think it’s an important show and well acted. You cant go wrong with Hillary Swank. I dont know what shows it was up against but they obviously werent good or i would have watched them. Please do t cancel and maybe a different time slot
Bring Alaska daily back for another. Season. I love the content of the show. I do not watch live but I stream it watch it later when I am free to do so. I do not want to see another show cancelled because of ratings aren’t quite where they should be and then leave me as the viewer hanging wishing I knew what was going to happen next. Alaska Daily is a great show! I look forward to watching it every week. Great cast and great awareness of issues in Alaska, especially with women. I hope we see a se ond season!
We think this show is one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. It would probably get more viewers–like us–if it aired earlier. We almost always watched it On Demand because of the 10PM time slot.

Alaska Daily is an incredible show with wonderful storytelling. History of news and meaningful actors please provide a second season.
We love this show. It is riveting! I started watching it when other tv shows went on hiatus. I would hate to see this show be cancelled because not enough viewers watched or taped it. I can only tape 4 shows at once so if I’m not home when shows are on air I have to catch up later. It does not mean my viewership is lacking.
It is really upsetting to see that in our modern times the ratings of shows are still based on live same day TV or DVR playback viewers. I watch TV on demand or I stream when it is convenient to me. Please, stop canceling good shows (and Alaska Daily is one of them) based on those very inaccurate ratings! I like the show, I find the story interesting, the characters very genuine and well played and Alaska is a beautiful state which is rarely shown on TV!

I am very hopeful that Alaska Daily will continue with season 2. I really love this show! Acting is superb and show is very engaging. I look forward to this show more than anything else on tv.
