What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the ABC television network, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. In a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world, Eileen is on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will ABC cancel or renew Alaska Daily for season two? The show is produced by ABC’s sister studio 20th Television (Disney owns both) which is an important factor these days. The traditional ratings aren’t great, but the series picks up nearly 90% more viewers in delayed viewing. With the right storyline, I think viewers could be enticed to watch live. Alaska Daily was excellent entertainment. It offered superior content with a highly talented cast and I watched it without fail. I am very disappointed that they have not chosen to renew this
I enjoyed watching Alaska daily. It seems every time I start to enjoy a show it is canceled. I am very sorry for this decision. I guess it is true CEO’s do not really know what the public enjoys. It’s all about money
This is one of the best shows on TV. There is point to their storyline and the acting is superb! I rarely watch TV live, because my life is too busy, but this has been a “go to” show for my husband and I. I am very disappointed in ABC’s decision!!!!
I absolutely love Alaska Daily, and I am so sorry is has been cancelled. I believe it’s a show with a real message that doesn’t get the emphasis it should. I hope that somehow, it will be reinstated.

I am VERY disappointed Alaska Daily was not renewed!! I LOVE this show! Wish someone else could pick it up, ABC isn’t the only platform that can be used. It was simply a GREAT show!! And when I think of some of the ones that were renewed that shouldn’t have been. And also I love that they brought light to the indigenous women that have suffered greatly through nothing being done about ones that have gone missing and have been found murdered, this is real life for them and their families. I looked forward to watching Alaska Daily every week. Great content and acting, and some beautiful scenery. I had to record it though due to the 10 pm scheduling. I was looking forward to another season.

We found and enjoyed Alaska daily – intelligent writing, appropriate humour, timely subject matter, strong and interesting cast … Swank is always a delight in whatever she does .. hoping to see it renewed

Alaska Daily is an intelligent show covering the hidden crimes against Native American women. The acting is well done. My husband and I have greatly enjoyed this show. I wish the network would give it another season. We need more shows that have substance.
