NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
What a shame. So many other junk shows with stupidity as the norm and not so funny series where people are denigrated and here is a great spy thriller with good acting and strong story line and we cancel. No wonder our culture is going down the drain with mindless other shows Please air the rest of episodes or put out on DVDs.
Come on man, I need some closure. Air the last eight episodes or release them online.
My husband and I love this show and we just got our friends hooked on it! Please don’t cancel!!
Great show. Has substance. Make it available online.
Absolutely loved the show, age 66. It was fast-paced, intellectual, captivating and intriguing.
Change the time of broadcast
Show the remaining episodes.
Put the entire series on DVD for those of us, who want to see all episodes of Allegiance.
I thought this show was very well produced and written. Definitely think the remaining episodes should be aired or be available on NBC on-demand.
WHY? Please cancel other shows that are stupid, boring and..did I say, stupid? Allegiance is the only TV show that was worthwhile watching, next to Blacklist. What a great Thursday TV line up. It gave me something to really look forward to. Why ruin it?
This was my favorite new series of the seasosn (along with State of Affairs) > Amazing that they air terrible series and cancel this one. NBC needs a new President of Programming.
Every time I like a show it gets canceled. It is amazing to me some of the “crap” that does airtime.
Hey, I love that show, I want to see the remaining episodes!! It should be renewed!!
Yes, renew the series also. Why do you think it should be based on demographics of that age group when they would probably be out partying? Why not base it on the 50+ group since more of us be home watching tv? Also we would have the money! Get rid of the stupid ‘The Slap’ show!!!! What a ridiculous show concept! It looks boring! And what little I could tolerate of it, (since I could not anything good to watch), I was correct: stupid and boring and hopping into bed!?? Yuck! ‘Allegiance’ is more action, intelligence, makes a person watch,… Read more »
This show was very well cast and produced. The storyline was intriquing. I want to see the rest of the episodes for sure! NBC has a history of doing this. They cancelled a really good series called Life a couple of years ago and left the viewers hanging.
I actually liked the show. But it was a show that woulod be hard to follow if you not watch from the beginning. I would like to see the remaining episodes
Figures…leave it to NBC to keep viewers hanging.
This was an interesting show in a sea of dreck. They could at least air the remaining episodes.
Loved Allegiance and feel remaining episodes should be aired…
