NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I loved this show. I can’t believe they are cancelling Allegiance. I hope it get picked up by another network!
So mad!! We were so excited to get into a new show then BAM! CANCELLED ! Don’t put your awesome new shows up against abc Thursday night line up then cancel them because they don’t hold up. I’ve been watching those other shows on abc for years… Why not put it on Sundays, or any other night! Would have been a loyal follower any other night. Ugh, so pissed.
love this series. Very disappointed it is cancelled. Wish it would have wrapped up. At least let us see the final show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Allegiance is a great show. I can’t comment on Slap. Its previews made it uninteresting to me though. I wish they had kept Allegiance instead. NBC didn’t give it a chance with only 5 shows. There’s a reason that NBC is always last in ratings and it ain’t the programs. I just hope Allegiance gets picked up by another network.
Try a new time slot! Hope NBC reconsiders or at least airs the rest.
This is a really surprise to my all family, we were watching this program and blacklist every Thursday….poor decision of the network.
This was my favorite new show. I am very disappointed !!
Won’t miss Allegiance. Didn’t care much for it myself, a so-so drama at best and copycat at that.
At least sell the series to TBS or TNT to produce and air it may run better on a cable network

I liked the show. Please run the remaining ones.
Wow! What a shock! I was recording the series on my dvr and anxiously awaiting the next episode. Bummer!
It is extremely rare that I have have taken the time to comment regarding network cancellations or in that regard submit a comment on anything. However, cancelling this three episodes from the end seems like a horrible decision. I understand this is a business related decision but one that I think hurts the credibility of the network more than taking the financial loss. The pilot wasn’t spectacular but good enough to peak interest and continue watching. Obviously other viewers didn’t think the same way. By the time the third episode came, the series picked up steam. The fifth and apparently… Read more »
Hope NBC reconsiders the cancellation of this show – this is one of the few shows on TV that my husband and I enjoy watching together. Solid writing and love the Alex character. Come on NBC, try a different time slot, help the show find an audience!
NBC has demonstrated no consideration or respect for its viewing audience, who invest some time and (often) much interest in the network’s better written and well acted shows. Allegiance is a prime example.
I am disappointed and frustrated that NBC has merely dropped this show in the middle of a story arc. I can only hope NBC will ,at the least , do a 2-hour finale to give the show a decent finale.
