NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Bad idea: canceling Allegiance. Good Ideas: Keep Alligiance, The Blacklist, Grimm, State of Affairs, Dateline. I am not a sitcom watcher or a “scandalous” Scandal (primary part of series as in sexually explicit The above good ideas are on my excellent, can’t-miss list…. Please bring back Allegiance !! and keep the otherss mentioned
Very sorry it was canceled. Loved it. Better than most of the crap that’s on.
Wow!… This was the best show on TV . How can bringing back the tedious and boring Dateline series improve the ratings ?
I KNEW this would happen…..NBC would really have Monday nights locked down just like SCANDAL & HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER has Thursday nights locked down. THE BLACKLIST & ALLEGIANCE is two dynamic shows that would truly captivate viewing audiences. What they really should cancel is STATE OF AFFAIRS.
this is an amazing show and had me from the get go…one of the better shows this year…I wish NBC would give it a better chance to catch on.
They should have at least had some sort of closure.
I echo the sentiments of Rebecca. Typical of NBC. Just last week I told people Allegiance was rapidly becoming my favorite show. I suppose some people had rather watch the president of the US drool over his mistress a la Scandal. Please someone pickup Allegiance or at least show the rest of the already filmed episodes.
I am SOOO disappointed this so-well-written series is being cancelled. The writing is beyond excellent. I believe it is even BETTER written than The Black List. All the twists and turns were so unexpected. I also thought the characters were very well developed and played opposite each other extremely well. I will sorely miss this show.
I’m VERY disappointed that NBC has chosen to cancel this show. Maybe I should cancel watching NBC….If they cancel The Blacklist, I’ll do just that!
I am so totally with you…….
one of the best show i have wacted is a long time swich it to Mondays

I am quite disappointed. I actually prefer this show over ” The Americans” on FOX. FOX’s version is too slow… Allegiance has more action, suspense and more punch! Still shaking my head over this. I still don’t know why NBC Exec’s would pit Red Reddington VS ABC’s SCANDAL. Shaking My Head….
I loved this show and my wife just go into and loved it… i hope another network pickups the show
First of all, The Allegiance is a good show. Sorry to hear of its cancellation. SECONDLY, what idiot at NBC thought it would be a great idea to put a great show, great cast and great story lines, THE BLACKLIST, up against a greater show, greater cast with greater story lines, SCANDAL? I’m no TV exec at NBC, but when I first heard of the schedule change, even I knew that was a BAD IDEA and would doom the BLACKLIST. How do TV execs who make decisions that KILL a great show by moving it to a dumb time slot… Read more »
I loved Allegiance. Great cast and story. One of the only shows I looked forward to every week. Please let us be able to watch the remaining 8 shows online since you already made them. I want to see how it all turns out. Ugh.
