TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?

My family and some friends at work all watched this show. We didn’t know that it was cancelled we thought it was just taking a break like they do with shows sometimes to extend seasons in a year. We are all TOTALLY BUMMED to find out that it has been cancelled, we’re actually a but angry too. The show was just starting to get into the deeper, complex sub-plot; now there will be no explanation and no resolution for the lovable and likable characters of Almost Human. ALMOST HUMAN should be RENEWED FOR SURE> Personally I hope Netflix picks it… Read more »
Loved the show and can’believe it got cancelled. BAD choice FOX.
I’ve just come across this series for the first time and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Why on earth are they cancelling it? It’s hardly begun.
This was the best show on fox next to 24. please consider not canceling/bringing it back. Another of the few quality shows on TV today. With all the other garbage programming that continues, cancellations like this doesn’t make sense.
I really like this show and up until I now I kept watching for more episodes. I hate it when they leave you hanging like that.
Another of the few quality shows I watch, cancelled. With all the other garbage programming that continues, cancellations like this don’t make sense. I guess it all comes down to the Benjamins and how crass programming attracts advertisers and viewers.
I watched this show every week and I’m really bummed that it is cancelled. I thought that perhaps TV programming was slightly turning to quality programming and away from the reality crap that permeates most channels most of the time. What a shame…
Amen!!!!
I agree totally. Why is it that televisual garbage like soap operas go on ‘ad nauseum’ whilst interesting stuff produced by really creative people for those of us that can think independently of our stomachs just gets canned? I have in mind too my other favorite programme, Warehouse 13, that I just saw the last of today. Is it really because the Entertainment Industry (read Advertising Industry) finds it more profitable to cater only for the ‘lowest common denominator’? I mean to those that just want to flop semi-mindlessly in front of the gogglebox after work and not need to… Read more »
I think ‘Almost Human’ should be renewed for as many seasons as is the equivalent of the near infinity we seem to have to endure soaps operas with their eternally repeating plot lines.
Okay, so I originally missed the point of the question. I’m only human.
Hate show is being cAncelled
It had great potential for the future. It sucks its being cancelled.
Nooooo! Don’t cancel. It is an excellent show in a sea of crap. Please reconsider!
This was a great show……. Really??????
Loved this show. Extremely ticked that you cancel shows that have an ethical and moral compass and keep crap on the air.
Just wanted to add our comments to the previous. What a friggin’ shame this show had to be canceled. They cancel the good ones & keep those that are stupid on & push the limits of immorality on to those that will believe such crap!!!
LOVE this show and the cast. Bad decision to cancel
I think Almost Human should be renewed. I really enjoyed the sh
Bull crap I really looked forward to watching that show . really bummed
