TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Im so frustrated with the info or data that NBC uses to rate and INEVITABLY, ULTIMATELY CANCEL SOME OF THE BEST DAMN SERIES THAT ARE AROUND. YET, NBC SEEMS TO MISS THE BOAT ON THE REAL VIEWERS RATINGS? What the hell is up. look at ratings with other rating systems where the real end users are seeing the shows and voting on them. One example is IMBD who take a pulse on series by allowing the audiance to rate the show. Just because viewers dont tune in on the exact nite the show is scheduled on NBC, doesnt mean the… Read more »
very interesting show…..really enjoy it and i can see where it’s going. please do not cancel. give it a fighting chance. SUPER CAST.
It should have been renewed. It and The Following were the only two shows I watched on FOX.
Renew!!!!!!
Really?
I just saw Karl Urban in the Bourne Supremacy and I was wondering when this show will start up again. Then I see this mess!
So glad we’re left with the “Kardashians” to watch!
I mean really….we just found an original plot and entertaining story — and the not enough money executives decide for the rest of us.
I mean, I should not be surprised with this “Fox” network.
Loved the show. Please renew it.
I think this series is the best out there. Much better than some of the reality TV shows like fantasy island, big brother, top chef, or can you dance. This shows some imagination and human spirit. Please don’t cancel it or have SYFI take it up. It has a lot of potential especially the episode about introducing the inventor of the emotion chips. That can be explored for later episodes and what about this splinter group that caused det John Kenniks to lose his leg in the first episode? Some of these questions remain and can be explored. Also, who… Read more »
Was a great show Kennex and Dorian has such a good relationship between them it was like in Hawaii 50 they stick together and good humour. Yes I am tired of those reality show big brother, soyou think you can dance and so on. For once we could be scared and laugh as well. You could of done so much with this story. I agree with Kristen’s comments all the way. Explore don’t be affraid look at JAG it was cancelled and brought back and was such a success. You cancel way too early. Think about it again. You had… Read more »
