As the sixth season of Army Wives is winding down, last night’s preview hinted that the TV series’ finale is in sight. The promo notes “only four more episodes until it all ends.”
The news doesn’t come as a surprise to our readers as we’ve suspected that there might not be a seventh season for quite awhile but it is the first time that Lifetime has hinted that the show is being cancelled.
For those who missed it, here’s the promo:
What do you think? Do you think there should be/will be a seventh season or is it time for Army Wives to go?
There are few decent shows on television. Army Wives is one of those few. The characters reflect a very realistic view of what military families deal with on an on-going basis. The only issue I have with the show is the homosexual storylines. There is absolutely NO reason to bring that into the show. Like some of the others who’ve declared their disappointment in the cancellation of the show, I, most likely, will cancel cable service. Seems that unless a show is trashy or exploits “reality” of life, it is cancelled. I suppose Lifetime’s executive level’s decision to cancel AW… Read more »
C Erwin…..you just had to bring up the homosexual story line as your issue.
Not drug addiction, infidelity, or any of the other subject matters that have been part of the show. Then, you talk about how the cancellation of the show is a “reflection of Lifetime’s executive levels lack of values “. Anyway, maybe you would have preferred if Chase and Pamela had not gotten remarried. That way, the writers could have written a homosexual story line for him with another hottie hunk.
I can’t believe they are canceling this show! I love this show, and I even have my husband watching the show. I hope they reconsider and keep the show on the air.
Unbelievable I have to say….my whole family enjoys this show soooo much, my husband has been in the armed forces for over 20 years and, PSC’ing can be so hard on kids, but with this show our kids have been able to relate and actually see and understand what happens behind the scene of deployments and other military things they didn’t really care for or fully understand before. I really wish you guys would keep this show going, not only is it therapeutic but its more than half way real of what we as soldiers wives often go through. Anyway thanks… Read more »
It is very sad to see a show of this caliber being cancelled and networks can justify adding shows like Animal Doctor and Bachelor Pad. When are networks going to realize that there are people out ther that enjoy good shows. They cancel show Like Harry’s Law as well. Shows that have meanings and send messages. We the public like home entertaining shows. Do show executives really listen to the viewing public? I woder…..
@Kathy….actually Catherine Bell signed with ABC, which is the parent company to Lifetime. She is the ONLY one so far to re-sign. Everyone’s contracts have not been renogtiated, so that’s why the supposed 10 episodes for a supposed season 7 have been tacked on to season 6. So they wouldn’t have to renegotiate salaries, etc. All the posts I’ve been seeing have said “season finale.” As sad as it is to admit, this very well could be the end of Army Wives. They don’t have to necessarily tie up loose ends before a show ends, you know.
Jennifer » Lifetime is owned by A&E Networks which is owned 50/50 by Hearst Corp and Disney. The latter owns ABC.
I cannot believe this awesome show is being cancelled!!!ugh so disappointed!!!
I can’t believe you are cancelling such a great show. It’s as if we became friends with Denise, Roxie, Claudia Joy. Please fight to keep it on. It’s my favorite and only show I’m watching. Are any of the other actresses going to be in other shows? It is a emotional experience watching it and you become a part of it. Please do not cancel.

I think there should be a seventh and eighth season. The trailer for the actual series finale night on September 2, 2012, is going to leave you wondering what happened to everyone who was deloyed and its most likely going to be epic, but it sucks because lifetime took off one of my favorite shows last year, Against the Wall and now their taking away Army Wives. Why are all the best oldie shows be replaced by boring new ones. Army Wives has been on a semi-long time and its a great show. you not only get to see the… Read more »
This show is not ending and has been renewed for a season 7.
No it hasn’t. Catherine Bell
And Sally Pressman have already signed contracts with new networks, the majors not cable. We have to accept that as much as it sucks, it IS ending.
My favorite programs – bar none – are Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva. (Though Glee and SNL are also great fun.) Both have great characters and writing. I really hope they will be extended for as long as possible. I won’t watch any of the violent shows (regardless of the channel), which generally feature women getting beat up. Even if the women eventually triumph, we still have to be exposed to that nonsense.
As a wife of a retired Air Force Command Chief I enjoy watching Army Wives. At times I can relate to what is going on. I love all the charactors and really want to see this show continue. I not only watch the show but also tape it to watch again later. Hope this helps.
Please keep ARMY WIVES on. I have watched this for so long I feel like I know the characters!
why do u keep cancelling good shows? this is a really good show with excellent actors. my husband was a career soldier and i think it help regular people too understand how tuff military service is on a family.
To me, if Lifetime cancels Army Wives it is going to be devastating. I used to be an Army Wife. The show depicts how it is for wives of soldiers in the Army/Military and/or wives that serve in the Army/Military, themselves. Army Wives has allowed many Military wives and/or wives of Military to feel better understood, accepted and respected by the civilian world. Often, Military Families feel that they are isolated and not appreciated. Behind every good soldier is a wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, parents, children, brother’s and sister’s. Army/ Military Wives have to be strong in order to support their husbands… Read more »
