It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.
What do you think? Do you like the Atlantis TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I love this show, great action, minimal cursing and innocent kissing. I will greatly miss this show.
This is a fantastic show. I can guarantee you that I will NOT begin watching any new offerings from the BBC for fear they will be callously killed in the cradle like Atlantis was.
If this show was not that great I would have never watch it and they did a great job really wish they continue on making the happings of this show because other shows really don’t have Greek mythology and it would saden me not to see more
I loved this show and very unhappy that they cancel it. Sad indeed.
Help bring it back it is not too late as the last 7 episodes will air in 2015 springtime sign the petition to BBC please.

The BBC America station might end the show with Atlantis sinking underwater like the legends of the lost city of Atlantis and they might include a tribute to the cast with a historical fact about each of the main characters as to how their stories have ended after Atlantis had sanked underwater, but I do support the petition for the show to have a few more episodes in season 3 as a look of what life was like after the characters have left Atlantis behind.
Okal, it clearly doesnt belong to the top of the tv shows, but i liked the story anyway. Some things really irritated me, but Im still sorry the show is cancelled
What is especially sad is that all the people that have displayed frustration about the BBC’s decision to cancel Atlantis will be ignored. Each person that wrote it probably represents HUNDREDS that do NOT write in. Corporate pride will not allow them to reconsider their decision and that is truly a shame, because they are cancelling a show that means so much to so many.
I have only just learnt that this show has been cancelled. I just didn’t know what had happened to the show after episode 6. My 9 year old son and I really enjoyed this tv series and I am utterly disappointed with the BBCs plan to not commission further series,
No it was a great show, they always take the great ones away so sad
Enjoyed the show, wish they would continue with new episodes always looked forward for the next show…….
No I real love the show..
No!this is one of tge few shows worth watchingà
I really loved this show.why did it have to get cancelled
Nooooooo, damn it. Every show I love get canceled. This one was awesome.
I don’t think BBC ONE gave this a proper chance. Like the also too quickly cancelled Sinbad this was a good show. Sadly there aren’t too many fantasy genre based shows out there right now. Atlantis had an interesting story line, great cast and it was well done. Bonus points for not ‘dumbing it down’ for the audience.
I will miss it. I really liked it and was looking forward to several more years like Merlin.
its a sad news that they will cancel the show. hopefully they have thought it thru there are a lot of people watching this.
