It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.
What do you think? Do you like the Atlantis TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Who else just finished both seasons to find out it was canceled ♀️
I love this series. So disappointed that there will be no more. They should have made one more episode to finish it off.
I was in love with princess Ariadne I’m so depressed about this will never get over this bummer.
I just discovered Atlantis when I discovered the Blu-Ray version of this series at the local library. After watching the first few episodes last night I quickly became a fan of the fantasy tv series. Sad to hear there are only 2 seasons though.
Damn. :/ This production really rekindled my hope in fantasy television. I had no idea this show was six years old until I finished season 2 tonight.
What a bummer.
I greatly appreciated that they kept a gay couple alive. The plot was consistently dynamic. All of the characters were flawed and well rounded.
Huge loss, and an awful decision, for BBC. This show could have been a better Once Upon a Time.
Atlantis TV series is the best tv series I have watched ever. Please stop the cancellation.
We are waiting for season 3….
Please stop canceling the good series. This isn’t a way to keep good ratings, Atlantis needs a final season, the undead queen needs to die, and the populus needs to see this blossom.
It’s a good story,Why did you canceled such a good story,We are looking for 3rd Season of Atlantis!!!!!,…
Atlantis should most definitely be reinstated, to stop such a good story with very good characters is beyond belief, c,Mon BBC, do the right thing and see this through.
Y’all sum bitchs I love this show
It will not be the third season. Authors of Atlantis and their new TV shows:

The Atlantis fantasy is fun and delightful to watch. I really enjoy it. The character, Jason, is such a handsome young man. This program is a wonderful escape from reality. Please keep it going.
I just binged watched the first two seasons because I really like the show . Then try to find out when the third season comes out and find out it’s canceled . It’s just too bad , I wish they would reconsider the cancellation . I’d really like to find out what happens . Fingers crossed .
It should NOT have been CANCELED!! It just leaves you hanging. Why do they ALWAYS cancel the good shows!!
A copy of Merlin could not succeed again. Why the authors of Atlantis, do not make a new TV show? The original story of Jason and Medea without the Euripides version of events in Corinth. In the original version of the myth, Medea was Queen of Corinth. TV show with a happy ending. Jason and Medea reconciled, returned back to Colchis, and as having there restored Aeëtes to his kingdom, and lived happily ever after. Jason after a lot of adventures and troubles, at the end of the story becomes a god. They could also make a story about Theseus,… Read more »
