ABC has been searching for a ratings hit to fill the Sundays at 10pm timeslot. Turns out that Betrayal isn’t that show but could it still return for a second season? Has it already been cancelled?
Betrayal revolves around professional photographer Sara (Hannah Ware) and top attorney Jack (Stuart Townsend) who, despite being married to other people, have a torrid affair. Things become even more complicated when Sara’s husband and Jack end up on the opposite sides of a murder trial. The rest of the cast includes Henry Thomas, Chris Johnson, Wendy Moniz, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and James Cromwell.
The series debuted in September and got off to a slow start with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers. The numbers got even worse in week two, dropping more than 24%. In week three, they dropped another 26%.

In short, the ratings were awful but the network didn’t pull the series off the air and a rep even said that ABC was sticking with the show. Why? Likely because they’d already cancelled another new drama, Lucky 7, and fellow freshman Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was also tanking.
Though Betrayal’s ratings have leveled off, that doesn’t mean that ABC is any more satisfied with the numbers and there’s just no way that they’re bring it back for a second season. It’s still on the air because they didn’t have anything to take its place.
The network has released their plans for early 2014 and, to no surprise, Betrayal isn’t part of them. That’s not an outright cancellation but, realistically, there’s as much hope of this show coming back as there being a second season of Pan Am or GCB.
ABC has taken to calling Betrayal a limited series which wouldn’t have stopped them from making a second season had the ratings been stronger. Hopefully for the fans who have stuck with it, the show will end in a satisfying way and won’t not leave a bunch of unresolved storylines.

Once I discovered Betrayal,I have watched it regularly and would really like to see it continue, especially since that reject killed himself tonight. Great show!

worthy of a second season! Some shows take awhile to catch on – not sure how the storyline would progress, but definitely think a creative writing team could do it – really like the cast, would like to see it continue!
Betrayal is by far one of the best dramas on TV…. I think it is in the wrong time slot.
Please do not cancel this show. The cast is great and I never miss an episode. Give it a chance to pick up an audience.
on second thoughts,maybe she decided to stay with the family,i hope so.I still would like a second series dealing with the rest of the cast in their new lives.

phenomenal show with interesting characters and storylines. Keep the show going. It has lots of new territory to explore.
Hope it comes back–I have a feeling Sara is on to someone new. That person is betraying his lover. This story line I think was finished off with Karsten suicide, His son moving to SF, Drew running for congress. Jack letting Sara go or vice versa sara not happy he did not come in to the room to see her. I’m just guessing. sara having new guy leads to a new story line for another season IF RENEWED. Just Write To ABC–Shows that have been canceled before have had a Resurrection.
Sara is a tart,Drew should get rid of her pronto,keep the child away from her. i agree there should be follow ups on the other characters,maybe one episode for each,and if the tart goes back to normal,give Drew a trophy wife a gorgeous blond so he can be happy to!
Tonight is a crucial point for Betrayal. I just hope it will not be cancelled because the show probably did well enough to stay on TV. I still love soap operas! I still love Betrayal so much. Please do not take it off the air like ” Hostages” on CBS! Hostages was also a great show. I feel better if it is on but if it is cancelled, I will have a happy, new life and move forward! GOOD LUCK, BETRAYAL! LOVE YA!
