The oil may be running dry. Deadline reports that ABC has just reduced Blood & Oil‘s initial episode order down from 13 to 10.
The news comes the same day NBC cut their new drama The Player down from 13 episodes to nine.
Starring Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, Blood & Oil follows a young couple who move to the booming North Dakota oil fields to hit it big. The primetime soap premiered on September 27 to around 6.3 million viewers. But in recent weeks, ratings have declined by almost half.
The series has not been officially cancelled yet and will continue in its current timeslot until the tenth episode airs later this fall.

Please don’t cancel….The time slot was a hard one to break but that is what PVR’s are for…. as stated previously don’t interrupt new shows for several weeks when trying to establish loyal viewers. a great mis of young and established actors …..PLEASE keep it on!
This is the best show on any of the networks, don’t cancel. I think ratings went down because you had too many breaks in between weeks. If you’re going to put something on the air don’t interrupt it for other shows for a week or two or 3 because then people forget about it. Its not that they lost interest, but probably thought it went off the air already.
I I enjoyed this show. I thought the plot was a fresh idea and the cast were great. I wish they wouldn’t cancel!! Anytime I really look forward to a show the networks cancel it. The networks do not give shows enough time to take root.

Blood & Oil is a fantastic series. I’ve been watching it since the pilot. I don’t want it to go.
Big Mistake
I hope this series does not cancel, so far it has an intelligent plot, and a good cast that seem to mesh. Don Johnson is great, Maybe if this does cancel, he could go on another series. I could see him fitting into the Nashville series.
Please don’t cancel. I just love Don Johnson and the cast of this new show. Just give it another season to see if ratings get better!
