It’s a common belief that TV shows that air on Friday nights will certainly be cancelled soon. While that’s often true, Blue Bloods has done very well for CBS, airing on Fridays for nearly its entire run. Will it continue to survive? Will the ratings rise or fall this season? Cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned.
Blue Bloods revolves around the Irish-American Reagan family and their work as part of the NYPD. The cast includes Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Amy Carlson, Sami Gayle, Vanessa Ray, Nicholas Turturro, and Marisa Ramirez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/25 update: CBS has renewed this series and 10 others for the 2016-17 season. Details here.
5/7 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

For comparisons: The fifth season of Blue Bloods averaged a 1.24 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.48 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Blue Bloods TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season?
Best show on TV so far. It has everything I am looking for in a show. I hope it has a long run.
Great show. Look forward to Friday nights. Please do not cancel Blue Bloods.
I hope that you won’t cancel Blue Blood, it”s one of the few shows that I look foward to watching. You already canceled the Good Wife. Come on enough. Blue Blood is such a good family show, there are so few left.
BEST SHOW ON TV. I hope it has a long running.
Best show on television Blue Bloods
I love blue bloods. I hope the show is renewed. It’s one of the best shows on TV.
Blue Bloods is great. I’m a totally loyal viewer and definitely want to see a seventh season.
I love Blue Bloods and would love to see it come back! The cast is incredible!!!
I feel this is one of the best shows to come along in a long time. I love the idea of the family getting together for Sunday dinner something this country does not have enough of, family values!!! The acting is always on point. Glad there back for season seven,
Blue Bloods is the ONLY network show we watch. It is a great show and one of the few left that are well written and engender viewers loyalty. We are looking forward to Season 7.
I love Blue Bloods. Best show on CBS.! Ratings say it all. Keep it!
Please don’t cancel “Blue Bloods”. I enjoy it so tremendously. I look forward to Friday nights. I even set the dvr to series taping!! Like Diana Ross said, we don’t want to be left airhead reality shows ❗❗❗❗
Please don’t cancel Blue Bloods. It is one of the few shows that are not full of sex, swearing, and other non-family-friendly episodes. And it teaches moral and Christian values. A rarity on TV today.
I agree. This is a very worthwhile show and I look gorward to seeing it each week.
DON’T PLEASE DON’T take Blue Bloods off the air. There are many loyal watchers. Why do you always take off the go shows and leave STUPID reality shows on the air? Not everyone wants to watch air heads get famous for getting drunk or takin off their clothes. There are a lot from the generation of wanting to really watch a show with a story line and relatable human interest. I hope who ever you decide to read this, that is if anyone really cares don’t take Blue Bloods off.
I love Blue Bloods Donnie Walberg is my new favorite actor. I watch reruns after reruns and love them all.
Excellent show teaching ethical and practical issues of people’s life entanglements. Whole family watches Blue Blood together, prompting legal and ethical issuez. This show teaches law with compassion. Best is Frank’s family disagreeing on issues but always coming together for Sunday dinner with prayer at the table. This is how we were brought up. God and family is at the center of our lives. Similar to the Father Knows Best show, Blue Blood teaches what behavior and conversations achieve peace and harmony. It role models mindfully ethical behavior. Honestly, we hope heaven holds a special place for Blue Bloods writers… Read more »
I do like the family coming together on Sunday’s and if you and your family can do that in the busy life of family’s is great. But the show has swung way to the right and I find the way police misconduct hard to stomach. I appreciate the many characters and story lines but it’s been hard for me lately to turn off the T.V and not be grumbling about the corruption of the episode.
