Starz has decided to cancel Boss after two seasons on the air. The Kelsey Grammer series won’t be returning for a third season but viewers may still get some resolution.
Boss revolves around Chicago Mayor Tom Kane (Grammer), a powerful man who struggles to stay on top while secretly battling a debilitating brain disease. Others in the cast include Karen Aldridge, Connie Nielsen, Kathleen Robertson, Martin Donovan, Jeff Hephner, and Hannah Ware.
The cable channel renewed the show for a second season a month before the series even premiered. Had they waited, they might have cancelled it instead. The ratings for the first season were underwhelming and the cast and crew knew that season two would have to do better for the show to survive.
It didn’t. The second season averaged 360,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating in the demo. The cancellation certainly doesn’t come as a surprise.
While there won’t be a third season of Boss, Lionsgate TV and Starz are having discussions about wrapping up the story with a two-hour movie.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Boss has been cancelled by Starz? Do you think they’ll really make a movie?
I just started watching it and really liked it. I did not like how it ended!!
I discovered BOSS on Netflix! I love love love it! Please tie up all loose ends!!! Please make a movie!!!! I didn’t have Starzzz when it originally aired..
I am watching Boss right now. Am on Season II. I love it and am so disappointed there won’t be more. Kelsey Grammer is great and the other actors are good too. Starz made a mistake in cancelling this.
I loved it! They alas ways cancel the shows that cause people to think…. I’m so tired of shoot them up shows
Don’t cancel
No, don’t do a movie! !!!
Begin shooting the series and bring it back to the small screen!
A big mistake to cancel, Boss. Kelsey Grammer’s powerful performance was remarkable. All the subplots were interesting and I couldn’t wait for season 3. BUMMER!! Please make the movie for us
I loved it I found this show on Netflix and watched every episode faithfully. Hope another network or netflix picks it up but a movie sounds excellent also.
I love it and would like to see Netflix pick it up for a 3rd season. It is as good as House of Cards.
I love Boss! I am so sorry they cancelled it. What a shame! Kelsey Grammer’s greatest performance.
Really enjoyed Boss. Just found it on Netflix. Yes, I’d like to see a movie that brings it to a conclusion. Corruption in politics is displayed with powerful dialogue and great acting.
Sorry it was cancelled.
I think it’s a great show, I just got done with all showing in 2 days.
Maybe if it was on a channel that wasn’t one you had to pay to get it would done better.
I never even knew it was out there to watch, I just got it on my Nexflex.
I really liked it. Watched both seasons within about a week. Hoping there will be a finish to this – and don’t leave us dangling.
Re: BOSS TV series. I am liberal, a socialist (Thank you, Bernie for clarifying that) and I want a caring, but not gullible, society and a clean planet with enough ROOM for animals of all species, etc.. I want Quality of Life for EVERYONE—not the few. We will NEVER see that as long as the world’s present political SYSTEM (democracy?!—all others are beyond redemption) remains in place. And it will remain as long as the average voter is so easily manipulated by a capitalist-owned media. With the exception of The Guardian UK, a media that does not address issues and… Read more »
I thought boss was a great show. Kelsey Grammar shows his skill at drama as he did with comedy in Frazier. Great cast and i enjoyed every minute. Thank goodness i have both seasons on cd. The american viewing audience never surprises me with their lack of taste. While shows like boss get cancelled, there is fantasy tripe, like the kardashians, what do they really do and countless others. Television is mostly a vast wasteland, so when quality programming comes along, it is sad that there are not enough intelligent people to watch. I truly hope that there can be… Read more »
