Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

Not fair!!! Camelot was looking like it was going to be an awesome series. I was waiting for season 2 with great anticipation. Bring it back!!!
Just saw all the reruns and I was hooked. Loved the story line. So I looked up to see when season two would be coming along. I am really disappointed to find out there is no season 2. I would have been a loyal view. Loved the story line and I was wanting more.
I want to see the baby! I watched the first season in my dorm room on instant netflix and am incredibly saddened to hear that it will not be continued. So many story lines were introduced right at the ending of the first season and I got totally hooked into it! Bring it back!!!
This was a really good show! Love the twists and changes from original story! Bring it back or maybe another network will pick it up?!!!
I am very surprised to hear that the series was cancelled y just found it and I was watching it expecting to see the second part. Please bring it back!

Just found the show. Loved the characters, loved the writing, loved the show. Really hate to see it go. Was planning on this being the new show I watched instead of “The Walking Dead.” Really good program.
So bummed! I loved the show…. bring it back!
I loved that show. Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green gave an amazing performance. The show was beautifully done with great cast. It is a huge dissapointment that the show got cancelled!
I joined STARS because of this show for I was so excited in season two and felt led into a deal then after signing up I found out it was cancelled. Very stupid of STARS to treat their subscribers this way for now I’m going to cancel my subscription. Your replacement shows are a let down compaired to Camelot. Magic City is a joke and so boring. Since I subsribed, the same shows keep repeating over and over and over again with hardly a change. You ruined yourself STARS and I bet many more will be pulling their subscription before… Read more »
