CBS is still the most-watched network but almost all of their established shows are down year-to-year. Plus, none of their new shows can really be considered hits. Which will be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned!
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Bad Teacher, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, The Crazy Ones, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Elementary, Extant, Friends with Better Lives, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, Hostages, How I Met Your Mother, Intelligence, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, The Millers, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest, Reckless, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, Under the Dome, Undercover Boss, Unforgettable, and We Are Men.
There’s lots of data that CBS looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece.
Check other networks’ rankings:
ABC | The CW | FOX | NBC | ABC Family | TNT
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
Why do you keep cancelling decent shows such as Intelligence and keep renewing unfunny unitellectual programmes.
Most of the world knows you make the best shows but yet you seem to follow the stereotype that US networks don’t promote original and creative dramas with decent acting and storylines. Only generic crap that idiots watch.
For once in your sorry existence keep a show that is actually good and has promise to deliver so much more, such as character development, chemistry between lead roles and a cast that actually gel.
I concur wholeheartedly with Jamie. Amazing Race is a very classy, thoroughly enjoyable way to wind down the weekend on Sunday evening.
How disappointing, I wish you would renew intelligence. It had fresh ideas and great cast.
Please don’t change The Amazing Race night! It’s PERFECT on Sundays, unless you don’t want me to watch your shows. That’s the ONLY show I watch on CBS. Friday nights will kill it and I assume that’s what you want, ending it on it’s 25th season. Such a shame! It’s a great show that all families can watch!!
I almost did not care enough to create an account for this site, but I am quite upset about “Intelligence” being cancelled. The two leads had great chemistry and the show was very intriguing, they could have done a lot for years and years with that story line. In addition, I’m not sure of the actresses name, but in the show her name was Riley, and she is smoking hot, and that’s being conservative. 🙂
You canceled”intelligence” which was getting better by the episode but kept “two broke girls”? You guys are idiots. I’m done with CBS because every show I get into you cancel!
Give intelligence a chance. We watched the show faithfully. Networks don’t give shows a chance to succeed. Don’t be so rash. We do watch most of the shows on cbs and included intelligence.
Why did they cancelled The Crazy Ones?
Please don’t cancel “Intelligence”, it’s a good show!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very please Elementary and Blue Bloods are not canceled, also The Good Wife.
Mom and two and a half men are my favorite shows. Why is two and a half men being cancelled?
Where does it say Two and a Half Men was canceled Mr. Carter??
Two and a Half Men is not being cancelled. It’s just ending its run after next season.
Intelligence: programs with much smaller ratings were not cancelled, but the network cancelled a show with such a great story-line and acting . I know it will not happen, but I wish another network would pick the program. .
Yup, that is my only hope. some other network.. maybe, Fox, please pick this show up!
I loved the team let by Lilian, I caught this show a little too late. sigh
This is such a great show with potential… please please, reconsider. 🙁
Checked out this site to find out what happened to “Intelligence”. We are very disappointed to see that it was cancelled and wonder if CBS can reconsider that decision given many of the comments posted below.
I am so upset that Intelligence has been cancelled. This was a great show and they always cancel shows that I like a lot. I just got done watching the Season Finale of CSI and I was so disappointed in how it ended. Usually, these shows go out with a bang and leave you for wanting more but this ending wasn’t like that. I still love the show and will look forward to its return.
Please save Intelligence!! I really enjoyed this show. Thanks for keeping Person of Interest.
