Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
We are deeply saddened that Cedar Cove is no longer going to be on tv. Even if you have lost viewers you still have millions of viewers. Another thing why didn’t you still have at least a few episodes and a ending. Wish it would come back.
I would like to see a season 4 of Cedar Cove. I hope minds will be changed and Season 4 will be produced in the very near future.
Cedar cove was a great show. So sad to hear it has been cancelled. Would have loved to have seen final episodes.
You should at least have a Season 4 to tie up all the loose ends.
I LOVE CEDAR COVE.. My 3 girlfriends and I watched it every Saturday.
Please bring it back at least to give us an ending.
Can’t believe Cedar Cove is cancelled without a finale. It was one of the best shows on television!!!!
Hallmark should have at least had a last season. It’s. not right to end it the way it did. The show was great and I really enjoyed it. Why would we want to get started on another hallmark series when they may cancel it on a whim as well.
Please return cedar cove for the final season and give viewers an ending. It is not right to can cel the series and not give us an ending
There should at the least be a hallmark movie to show conclusion of Cedar Cove series.
Please bring cedar cove back it was great
PLEASE PLEASE bring it back. There is such a shortage of real good shows on tv, Cedar Cove is/was one of the best shows. I so looked forward to it each week. There aren’t many shows on tv that make me wish it was on much longer then an hour each week. Cedar Cove was one that made me wish for much more each week. So PLEASE bring it back, don’t let those awesome actors go.
My daughter an I faithfully watched Cedar Cove each week and looked forward to each episode. It’s very unfortunate to learn its been canceled, particularly with lack of closure in the final show.
I am shocked to discover that Hallmark has decided to cancel Cedar Cove. It was a well written series with wonderful characters, a superb story, and beautiful scenery. Each new season was highly anticipated! Please bring it back for Season 4 and beyond!
