Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I hate when a show gets cancelled with a lot of unanswered questions. At least make a 2 hour special for a conclusion.
I just recently discovered this show on Netflix and absolutely fell in love with the show, the characters, and the wholesome values that are depicted…not to mention this beautiful town…quite frankly, this is just what we need more of in our society…I found my myself watching episode after episode to see what happened next. I just finished the 3rd season in about 2 weeks or less and googled it to find out when the fourth season would begin when I found out the extremely disappointing news….Can’t the hallmark channel reconsider their decision and bring the show back for a fourth… Read more »
Very disappointed – loved the show!
I would like to compliment the actors and actresses of this storyline. I didn’t know cedar cove was on hallmark. This is a channel I love because the material is safe. I was directed to the show by way of Netflix while I was home recovering. I spent 3 days watching all 3 seasons in it’s entirety. Nothing missed. I thought it captivated me very well. I am surprised at the low numbers. As season 3 ended, I immediately went to tap on season 4 and was disappointed to see that it was cancelled. I feel like we were left… Read more »
Totally shocked – great show. Great cast – not sure why it got cancelled
Bring it back it is a great show!
My husband and I are not happy about the show be cancelled because it is a wonderful show and one of our favorites. There are plenty of other shows that could have been cancelled. I hope you change your mind and bring it back. I’m sure there’s others that would be happy.
I am so as very disappointed the show was cancelled. I have read the series in book form and the show was true to the authors writing. If Hallmark Channel made the mistake of cancelling I say come on Netflix or Lifetime Channel pick the series up it could be good for the ratings for the show and your network!!
That is a let down, seems that every program that is fun to watch and is not filled with sex, murder and drinking gets cancelled ! Who ever made this decision was either out to lunch or just plan evil ! How about bringing this show back
I’m disappointed it did not have an ending with closure. I enjoyed watching it. Would have loved to see another season and wrap up all the questions.
Glad it was cancelled because it’s not why we watch Hallmark. For it was insinuating that people were sleeping together without being married.
Actually a clean movie you can watch with family, We need more of these kinds of films…
Well I think you should never end a story that way.. It was not good ending.. You should have the end where Oliva leaves that City after finding out her daughter is marrying and moving out of Cedar Cove and that she falls for the DA.. and they move back together to New York… after another whole season at least.. gee.
Love this show, just found it and wish it had continued, I am addicted to it .
The show was nice but a little frustrating to those of us who know the books. Jack & Olivia should have been married. Justine and Seth should still be together, married, owning a restaurant and with a baby. Charlotte who played a very integral part in the books suddenly disappeared after Season 1. Although they strayed from the original books , the series was entertaining albeit the push & pull between Jack & Olivia was getting tirsome. Renew the series and end it properly.
