Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I really enjoyed the show – taped them to make sure I didn’t miss any. So sad to hear it got cancelled.
I LOVE this show and am extremely upset to hear of its demise. I loved ALL the characters and the chemistry amongst them. I LOVE the location and beautiful scenery where everything takes place. As a matter fact, that is the #1 choice for me to visit if or when I can ever afford a vacation. (because of this show). Otherwise, I would never know it existed. IT IS TRULY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE I HAVE EVER SEEN, PLEASE, PLEASE bring this show back. I can’t express how upset and disappointed I am with your decision. Thank you for listening… Read more »
Loved the shows should at least bring it back to have a final show
Of course it was canceled! It was intelligent, no sex or violence, no swearing, etc. Maybe Hallmark can find a show like Breaking Bad or Sons of Anarchy to replace Cedar Cove!
No Season Four – that’s a shame. I enjoyed the show – sorry to hear about the cancellation. Can’t you have at least a final show so that the viewers have closure?
Please bring CEDAR COVE back.. It was a GREAT show.. I loved it and the actors were great in it… I watched it every week since it started.. Please please bring it back..
We LOVED Cedar Cove!! Please, please, PLEASE bring it back!!!!
I looked forward to watching Cedar Cove every Saturday night.
How could you cancel it?? I’m sooooo disappointed .
Very sad that the show has been cancelled. I enjoyed all the characters and storyline
I have been waiting to see it continue, so I am very disappointed. Love the actors and the characters they portray.
I loved the show and actors! Great wholesome family entertainment with focus on real issues/problems and the conversations around them. Definitely a lot of unanswered questions. Closure needed: Grace and Cliffs wedding, who will Olivia choose and more. Very sad it has been canceled and would like to see a few shows/movie To bring closure. Would like to see return of characters.
I LOVED Cedar Cove!!Please, please, PLEASE bring it back and wrap it up even if with a two hour movie.
I loved Cedar Cove too! Very disappointed in cancelation! Won’t plan on getting hooked on any new series in the future if this is what will happen! So sad!!
I agree with every comment here…what a huge disappointment and unlike other networks that ensure they have a great finale season, it not right to leave fans lingering…it is like taking away the book without reading the last chapter! Who does that? Ugh!
I could not have said it better.
I like Cedar Cove but there’s too much shackin up. It’s not a show you want to watch with your kids. If you took out the adultery it would be better. And Justine falls in love with every guy who likes her. She needs to be less needy. Grace looked better with short hair. It suited her spunky personality. Love Moon and Allison Sweeney.
