Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Extremely disappointed in Hallmark. This was my favorite show. We would have Cedar Cove watch parties and I could hardly wait for the next episode. This show was by far better than all these cookie cutter mystery shows. Seen one you’ve seen them all. Boring!!!!
I am so dispointed that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I really enjoyed the series and looked forward to each weeks episode. Did Hallmark consider trying to air the show at different time of year? Summers are busy for most people and may have impacted the decline in viewers. It certainly wasn’t because of the quality of the show.
What in the world was you thinking taking cider cove of the air my Dad,Mom and my friend and also myself enjoy watching it at least you could do is come out with a 2hr movie tying things all up
What in the world was you thinking taking cider cove off the air my Dad Mom and my friend also myself are big fans of the show now we won’t now it end you lift us all hanging and wondering so we would appreciate it very much if you could at least come out with a 2 hr movie and wind every thing together and just not leave every body hanging in mend air so dont just think of your bottom line think about the fans so wise- up people if you still want people to keep watching the Hallmark… Read more »
I was so shocked when I was checking for it’s return to see it’s 4th season is cancelled, such a shame!!!!!
You got to be kidding Cancelled? I look so forward to that show every summer. We don’t know what happened to all the characters. I’m so upset!!!
I am horribly disappointed for the show to be cancelled. It was an enjoyable sweet program. I sure hope enough people express their desire for the show to be reinstated. Not to mention, you left us hanging….
I am devastated! This show was amazing and a date night all summer with my best friend. I am soooo shocked!
I am so disappointed to hear that Cedar Cove was cancelled. What were they thinking? Well I won’t be subscribing to the Hallmark channel now.
As I was watching Hallmark this morning and saw the upcoming line-up, I realized Cedar Cove is missing. I immediately googled it and to my dismay found that it has veen canceled. It provided a family friendly and uplifting program for my family to watch. I would very much like Cedar Cove return. It’s 1st season saw me through several surgeries and chemotherapy giving me something look forward to through a very difficult time. The show was a great support and the cast has become family to me. Please, please, please reconsider your decision to cancel this wonderful show and… Read more »
Am so disappointed and upset that such a great show as this was cancelled. What are you thinking??? I watched this show from day one and enjoyed it so much. Please reconsider – maybe you could try airing it on a different day and time but I know so many people who loved this show and would watch it no matter when it was on! Meanwhile, a lot of dumb shows go on and on and the good ones get cancelled.
I don’t understand why Hallmark pulled the show. I have been waiting to see what happened in Season 4….and now there is no Season 4. The least Hallmark could have done was have Season 4 and wrap up all the unanswered questions. So typical of a network…..they do not think of the fans, they only think of themselves.
I hate to hear that Cedar Cove will not be returning this season. I loved the show and really looked forward to its return. I am so sadden. I hate it when networks just get you hooked then decide to pull a really good show.
WOW!!! You have got to be kidding me? I can’t believe that Cedar Cove has been cancelled!! I’m beyond sad about this. Please if you’re not going to bring it back at least make a movie so we know how it ends!!!!
Cedar Cove was a delight to watch, and I am very sad about it’s demise. I do believe it would have done better in the ratings if it had been scheduled for a different time in the television season. Though one may enjoy a show, there are too many distractions during the summer months. People are traveling and involving themselves in outdoor activities. Re-runs should be shown during the summer months……sagas during the fall and winter seasons.
