Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Please bring Cedar Cove back. My husband and I were so bummed the show was cancelled. We looked forward to our time together at the end of the week to relax and watch a show with good values.
I just started Season 3 of Cedar Cove on Netflix. I was so disappointed to find out there isn’t a season 4. I am loving this show. Growing up in Silverdale and living in Port Orchard, many visits to San Juan Islands, and now living outside of Washington; the scenery is making me homesick. I love the stories, the scenery, and playing with the directions of all the towns mentioned and trying to figure out where this little town of Cedar Cove could be in this alternative Puget Sound geography. Please Please get everyone back in to continue this lovely… Read more »
I loved this show, I’m heartbroken to know there isn’t a fourth season! I need to know what happens! We need a season four! Best show!
Love this series I’ve been watching on Netflix. I would love to see it return or at tje vwry least a movie to ties all the stories because everything was left in such suspense.
The Cedar Cove series started-out giving the viewer hope that an excellent semi-soap-opera like series had been given birth. By the time the third season had run it’s course, Cedar Cove had become a heavy-handed cheap soap-opera and nothing more. The same tired themes, the same tired cheating individuals, the same tired girlfriend-to-girlfriend belly-aching week after week. Sure, the same women who are only too happy to burn every day watching tired soap operas will burn one night a week watching one more show written by writers who can’t come-up with interesting story-lines on their own. Sorry folks, this was… Read more »
You need to bring back the series of cedar cove and just when we just started enjoy a great series it gets cancelled. We want cedar cove back on the air.
I was watching Cades Cove on Netflix, so unhappy when I got to season 3 and realized it wasn’t finished, Great series , loved it, wished it wasn’t cancelled
I was watching it on Netflix too and was sad that there weren’t any more seasons.
Why would anyone ever end such a great show! I have watched all of the seasons and cannot think of any reason why you would not continue this.
There is so much garbage on TV and Cedar Cove was a real life series. I loved it!! Wish you would bring it back!!!!!!
I love cedar cove and would love for it to come back.
would love to see the show renewed watcjed it weekly. please we need decent shows to watch and love hallmark.
I loved this show!! I chose to stop watching because we didn’t want to pay the crazy price of TV. We are now Slingers it has made the Hallmark Channel a reasonable price. It would be great to have the show back.
I loved the show, but YOU can’t end a show with such cliff hangers, ESPECIALLY with the main character. That is unexcusable, especially with a network like Hallmark. Is going make me think twice about starting to watch a series produced by Hallmark
I loved the show and was so disappointed that it ended so abruptly….bring it back!!!
I would love to see more episodes! Loved the series!
Thank you for the entertainment! Looked forward to seeing the episodes many nights!
We loved the show! (I had already read the books!)
If the show cannot come back with multiple episodes… maybe a movie now and then?
Thanks for the great show!
I got hooked on Cedar Cove after watching the first episode. Since it ended in 2015 it most likely won’t come back. Bummer.
