Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I can’t believe Hallmark is leaving us hanging on a show so well written and produced. I am extremely disappointed as I found this show to not only be, wholesome and heartwarming, but drama filled and highly entertaining. Such a great cast and story line. Please reconsider and give us avid Hallmark fans closure on this series! Please do a season 4 and write an ending that leaves your loyal viewers satisfied and happy! We certainly need it with all the craziness going on in the world today!
Love Cedar Cove. Please bring it back on Hallmark. There is so much more I need to know. AWESOME show. please consider more seasons!!
I think you should leave Cedar Cove on that is one excellent show please put a season four on
Absolutely loved Cedar Cove!! Bad move Hallmark!
I just started watching this during the Coronovirus Cophid 19 and it was the salve/antidote to help me with the stress of sheltering in place. I want a fourth season please!!! There was a wholesomeness and yet realistic approach in the characters and storyline. Please reconsider!
Please bring back cedar cove it’s really good
Just started binge watching. As simple as it is it has become addicting and I can’t wait to watch the next episode. Sorry it was cancelled
My wife and I just recently discovered Cedar Cove and watched episode after episode until we ran out of them! We were terrifically disappointed when we found it had ended after 3 seasons! We loved it and are really hoping Hallmark will bring it back!!
Please bring back Cedar Cove. Loved the actors and loved the show. Hallmark, reconsider!
At least bring Cedar Cove back as a movie so we have a decent ending to a wonderful story/series.
Sorry to see Cedar Cove come to the end at 3 seasons wish had been on other channels to be more popular
Love the actors. Wish reconsider season 4
I am watching the “Cedar Cove ” series for the first time. Just starting season 3. Sad to hear there is no season 4. Would love to see more seasons!
I just watched Cedar Cove again in rerun and I loved it just as much the second time around. As many have expressed, it would be nice to see all the story lines close. This would be the perfect time, almost, to have a reunion movie!!! I state almost because the pandemic we are in the difficulty that may present in filming.
I think it’s just a shame that the Cedar Cove Series was cancelled before at least closing the open storylines. I think a good idea could have been to have all of those storylines closed by making a movie. Maybe even a two-parter with a title like: Cedar Cove: The Movie. Then bring back all the characters, finish their storylines and send them into the sunset. For example: Olivia rejects Paul and he ultimately winds up with Alex, after Grace and Cliff get back from their Honeymoon, they finally settle on where they’re going to live, Lynnette finally accepts Gloria… Read more »
I got sucked in by this show and then boom. What a letdown the ending was! Please finish the story!
I just finished watching this series and was very disappointed with the way it ended. I’m sorry I was not able to watch when it originally premiered. I loved the Debbie Macomber series when I read her books and was excited to find this series when we were self distancing during this epidemic. Sorry you were not able to take the series to a place of closure as Ms. Macomber was able to do with her books.
I, for one, would like to see , at least, a 2-hour Hallmark movie to wrap-up the story lines.
I agree, I too did not watch this when it was a series I didn’t even know it was there I’m an RN n work nights but with COVID19 although I was still working I found this series n I was so hooked, sad to find it didn’t wrap up at the end so far it just replays from the beginning n I do watch it over n over again. I would love to live there. I’m a hallmark junkie that’s all I watch I have all three channels. I’m pleased to find these actors in my other shows n… Read more »
I also would like to see a final ending and a 2 hour movie would be fun to watch and answer some questions I’m sure a lot of us have…….
I agree with all that has been said. Cedar Cove is a treasure and I would love to see either a Season 4 or a movie to tie up all of the loose ends that left us hanging. I hope others join us on this thread and that Hallmark actually reads this!
I would like to read the book and find out the ending!!! It was unacceptable to finish like that!!!!
