NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

I really love chase and do not want it to go away. I watched it on mondays after it aired with my dvr. However, once they changed it to wednesdays. I had schedule problems, causing me not to watch it as often. I missed episodes and had to catch up online. I love to watch this show. Mondays are better, since I only watch House and Castle. I could care less to watch minute to win it. I think that it is a stupid show. I would rather watch Chase!!!
I am really disappointed to learn that NBC is cancelling this great show and replacing it with the same old trash as win it to whatever. I think there are only 1 other show I watch on this network, so sick of all of these stupid reality and game shows that are getting on my nerves. The monday night time slot was up against some really great shows, I still watched this one every week. I hate that this was sent to wednesday, bad night for most people. They could have sent this one to Thursday, talk about a bad… Read more »
I love this show. It seems that every time a show drops it is replaced with a game show or some reality show. Soon that is all that will be on television. I hope at least they will show the last shows they have and at least end the show. That will be better than any other show has done.
I really liked Chase. I am tired of the game shows and all the reality shows!!!!
They could at least put the remaining 5 episodes online for those of us who want to see them! What a shame….
Reality series are so cheap to produce that network executives are always too quick on the trigger to replace quality (costly) dramatic series with them. Networks don’t worry about quality or rewarding faithful viewers. They move shows from slot to slot. They pre-empt them. No wonder they can’t establish higher “ratings”.
I LOVE Chase! If you are not going to bring it back, please put the remaining episodes online so that those that love the show can watch it. I really wish you would give this show a chance…It’s a great series with an awesome cast. Maybe Directv will pick it up like they did another NBC castoff, Friday Night Lights!
It really bugs the crap out of me that a network just drops good shows like this. ABC does it alot too. Just when you get hooked, they drop it!
I can’t believe that they are not airing 5 episodes!! I love this show and look forward to watching it and it just disappeared!! It should be put back on the air!! It is a great show!
We love the show!! They initially put it up against some other good shows and it was slow to take off. We started watching it with the second episode and never missed another one.
As for the Wednesday time slot – we kept waiting for the new shows – but they didn’t happen. Very bad decision – we, and others we know, skip the network altogether on Wed. Please bring it back.
Another good show removed from a bad network! And for a mindless gameshow!
Great show, great cast. Why would you ever axe a program with so much potential. No wonder you suffer in your ratings.
It’s simply a matter of low ratings; a show with a 1.5 rating just cannot survive.
Apparently, only 12 people watch the show. The only reason I watched it was Kelli Giddish!
I loved the show and am very disappointed that they took it off the air. I am tired of reality shows. The time slot was the issue not the show.
There have been so many shows NBC has cancelled that I liked.
a) Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
b) Chase—LOVED IT
c) Outlaw with Jimmy Smitts
Come on NBC!
There is only so many “Minutes to Win it” we will take!
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? CHASE LOTS RATINGS BECAUSE YOUR DUMB BEHIND MOVED THE SHOW FROM ITS ORIGINAL DATES. I LOOKED FORWARD TO EVERY MONDAY NIGHT, BUT PEOPLE DO WORK….IF IT WAS ON THE INTERNET MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WOULD WATCH IT. IT THE BEST IDEA OF FBI AGENTS…BETTER THAN ALL THOSE LAW AND ORDER SHOWS…..HOW CAN THE FANS BRING THIS SHOW BACK ON AIR. I HATE MINUTE TO WIN IT….HATE IT…I WANT MY SHOW BACK…..I COULDN’T WATCH IT WEDNESDAY BECAUSE THAT NIGHT IS CHRISTIAN NIGHT FOR ME…..SO IF NBC CAN GET THIS MESSAGE….THEY NEED TO STOP PULLING GREAT SHOWS AND TAKE OFF THE BORING… Read more »
