NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

The idiot programmers at these networks these days HAVE to be under the age of 25. It’s a great show, albeit a bit of a takeoff on In Plain Sight, just from another prospective. The casting is right on, the actors are fantastic and if NBC would take it’s head out of it’s behind and actually find the right day to place this show, for instance, WEDNESDAY NIGHTS when there’s nothing but crap on, maybe the show would find it’s audience. PLEASE, PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK. AT LEAST GIVE THE PEOPLE THE REMAINING EPISODES. I’m probably just pissing in… Read more »
I actually liked the show but it was to repetitive. Ooh a new bad guy lets get him …. next week Ooh a new bad guy lets go get him… etc. etc. Many shows have begun in that fashion and transitioned into developing an ongoing sub plot and feeding us tidbits of it each week as they hunt the bad guy down. Eventually leading us to the “big bad” that they would eventually catch for the season finale. Chase never evolved beyond the new bad guy each week scenario and the closest it came to any sub plot was mention… Read more »
bring it back
Keep the show. We really enjoyed it. It will catch on.
Please do not cancel Chase, it has become one of my favorite shows. Pretty soon people are going to stop tuning in to “Primetime TV, because as soon as you get into watching a new show you cancel it, pretty soon you are going to loose all your viewers. Please bring it back or I am done watching NBC.
Please bring CHASE back…one of the best new shows this season…..
We loved Chase. Bring it back on Fri or Sat. when there’s nothing on.
Love this show and so tired of getting vested in a show and the opps it’s over! Nobody asked me whether to go or stay.
Bring back CHASE! I loved the girl power character of Annie and the southern draw of it all. I miss it.
Maybe fox will pick up chase because nbc do not know a good show when it is slapping them between the ears.
Please bring back the chase! It is so rare for there to be a show with a strong woman character! Girls need that.
NBC you really suck !!! that was the only good show besides svu so now i geuss i will be cbs ing it for ncis’s defenders again you stink
I love this show, it is the first show I have actually watch that my jaw dropped and mouth stayed open the entire show. Please NBC bring it back.
Chase is one of the best TV crime dramas. Anyone who is upset with NBC for
canceling the show should call their local NBC affiliate to complain. Picture thousands of
fans calling their local NBC stations voicing their disdain over NBC’s decision; that, at least, should make top NBC execs rethink their decision.
i love chase i keep wondering why there hasn’t been any shows on tv. please dont cancel the show. its original ann refreshing. maybe they shold air at an earlier time so people have more of a chance to watch it.
