We all knew it was coming but now the peacock network has made it official. Chase has been cancelled after one abbreviated season on the air and won’t be back for season two.
Chase follows US Marshall Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish) as she heads up the Houston Enforcement & Apprehension Task Force. Annie and her team (played by Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins, and Jesse Metcalfe) hunt down America’s most dangerous fugitives.
When it debuted in September, Chase scored mediocre ratings at best and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights in 2011, the ratings only got worse and it became the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
In February, NBC pulled the show off the air but wouldn’t say that it was cancelled. Still, we all knew the writing was on the wall. There were five episodes left unaired and last month, the peacock network began burning them off on Saturday nights. If there were any hopes left, the Saturday ratings reports dashed them. New episodes of Chase typically don’t perform any better than reruns of other NBC shows.
The peacock network has now made the cancellation official. Episode 17 airs tonight and the series finale of Chase airs next Saturday night at 8pm.
What do you think? Will you miss watching Chase? Why do you think the series struggled right from the start?

Well I liked it, sad to see it go. There’s a lot more garbage out there than this. It had it’s flaws but it was entertaining. Another example : Detroit 187, unbelievable no one watches these shows but tune in for idols and that sort of crap.
From a rare Saturday rating I happened to see Chase on Saturday had more viewers then all but 3 NBC shows had all this week, and this show gets cancelled? Had they did what ABC did with Body of Proof and put it against The Good Wife (which to me is a soap opera and I don’t watch it) it probably would have gotten better ratings. Now NBC has only 1 show that I watch. I don’t understand the target age demographics. With 10% of this age group out of work (no extra money), guessing at 10% in school (no… Read more »
Well, seeing as how Chase was the ONLY show that I watch from NBC and my FAVORITE show to watch period….I will no longer be watching NBC. I loved Mercy and they pulled it. I LOVED Chase and they pulled it. It is clear to me that NBC has absolutely NO taste at all.
I love Chase. Always watched it and taped it on TIVO. NBC screwed the one of tonights by cutting the first 15 minutes of the show. They could have at least cut the commercials so we could have seen the entire show. Maybe the CW will pick them up.
Well for awhile I thought it was but canceled. Not a big surprise here. Big surprise it didn’t catch on more. At least it lasted longer than Past life.
I think the rating system is broken. I’ve never participated in a rating and have never know anyone that has. I thought Chase was an interesting show and well worth watching. I’ve seen many a network cancel a show that supposedly had poor ratings that in my opinion should have remained on the air but in the end it is just my opinion and apparently isn’t included in the rating system
Chase was the only show I even watched on NBC. Oh well, guess I’ll just never have to tune to that channel again.
Another fun show that we don’t get to see anymore… sad to see this one go… but what took it’s place: Minute To Win It… really?????
It’s a real disappointment that Chase is being cancelled. It’s a really good show. The first one that NBC has to offer.
NBC ruins good shows by moving them around all the time. I enjoyed Law and Order L.A , and the Chase but they moved them around. I had no idea Chase was back on until my dvr started to record it. I lost Heroes and Flashforward last year and yet we have all of this reality tv that is annoying. I just don’t remember shows getting moved around all of the time during the season like shows do now. Maybe we need a third night of Dancing with the Stars or something else.
I will mss Chase. I loved it.
I’m highly disappointed. This show had something unique about it and truly was not allowed the gather the audience it deserves. You can’t expect a show to succeed if you move it, put it on hiatus and then toss it on Saturday’s as an after throught. I wish they would reconsider but given nearly every networks’ history in the last five years if it’s good they’ve decided to kill it by the third episode and replace it with cheap crappy reality or game shows. Next years line up already looks like the start of another dismal season of mindless fluff… Read more »
Well yet another show that I liked, cancelled. I watched it every week, I guess since i’m not 18, that’s not good enough for the network idiots.
No surprise.
I think that the cancelling of Chase is a mistake! This in my opinion was the best new series on television and the ratings didn’t do it justice probably because NBC didn’t advertise enough for this show. I wish another network would pick it up and give it a chance to build a fan base and I think that it would be around for a very long time.
