We all knew it was coming but now the peacock network has made it official. Chase has been cancelled after one abbreviated season on the air and won’t be back for season two.
Chase follows US Marshall Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish) as she heads up the Houston Enforcement & Apprehension Task Force. Annie and her team (played by Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins, and Jesse Metcalfe) hunt down America’s most dangerous fugitives.
When it debuted in September, Chase scored mediocre ratings at best and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights in 2011, the ratings only got worse and it became the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
In February, NBC pulled the show off the air but wouldn’t say that it was cancelled. Still, we all knew the writing was on the wall. There were five episodes left unaired and last month, the peacock network began burning them off on Saturday nights. If there were any hopes left, the Saturday ratings reports dashed them. New episodes of Chase typically don’t perform any better than reruns of other NBC shows.
The peacock network has now made the cancellation official. Episode 17 airs tonight and the series finale of Chase airs next Saturday night at 8pm.
What do you think? Will you miss watching Chase? Why do you think the series struggled right from the start?

It was almost as if NBC wanted the show to fail. They barely showed previews for it, and I have never seen one of the stars prompting it on the talk shows. You can’t even watch previews on the website anymore. I think NBC failed the show, not the show failed the network. If someone else picks it up, then could actually advertise so that people know it is on. It might help 🙂
Chase is a great show! I am hoping that TNT or USA picks it up. It happend with South Land! The show is really good. Somethings are a bit far fetched, but overall it is well written and has a great plot. Every episode is something new and exciting!
This show was good enough to deserve time to find an audience but alas this is NBC. They did cancel what I thought was the best show ever, “Life”.
I can’t believe they canceled this show it is a great show. I hope NBC gets a brain.
They put it up against Castle, an already established show and Five-O. Maybe they don’t care about Hulu, because that’s where I watched it. I also had no idea that they moved it to another night. I’m sure that I’m not alone. If you want a show to succeed you have to promote it, not abandon it and pretend that you’re keeping it around.
I can’t believe they did this… I agree with all you, excelent show, horrible network… some other should pick it up !!! 😉
Hate that Chase has been cancelled. Good show. Would make an excellent Sat show for between college football seasons. absolutely NOTHING else on worth watching.
great show…horrible network…CBS should pick it up
My husband & I loved CHASE. We looked forward to watching it every week. We are devoted DVR users and loved rewinding the show. We are so disappointed that it has been cancelled. We are sick and tired of all of the trashy reality shows that these networks decide should be kept on the air. We agree that these networks need to find a way of calculating the DVR data. They need to bring back CHASE!
I also loved CHASE. I am a staunch CBS viewer but always watched NBC for Chase, Chuck, and The Event. With 2 out of the 3 gone, guess I’m back to CBS. Too bad! NBC can’t compete with CBS for grerat drama. And I, too, hate copycat reality shows. The only goods ones are on CBS!
I thought Chase was a great show! I am very disappointed that it has been cancelled. It seems the networks are cancelling some really good shows & keeping the trash. Sad!
WTF These network execs keep cancelling good shows like Chicago Code, Chase, and Detroit 187 but they renew crap reality shows and shows like Bob’s Burgers, and The Cleveland Show. They need to start counting DVR data. I give up on regular TV less Hawaii 5-0. It’s stuff like this that makes cable a must have in order to watch a good show.
Chase is one of the better shows on TV! Once again, the powers that be cancel a show worthy of airing. I am so done with NBC! I hope another network has the good sense to pick it up.
As you said, Chase is “well written”. The cast members meshed well together, too. It’s too bad they scheduled it up against “Five-0” then moved it in the same time slot as “Idol”. I’m hoping this Saturday won’t be the last time I get to see a new episode of “Chase”. Hope another station picks it up.
We loved Chase and Event. Too bad these guys just look at numbers. Other stations should pick these up.
