Last month, CBS execs ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama Code Black. They apparently won’t be needing one of them. The network has now decided to produce five more episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles where underfunding and understaffing pile huge pressure on its staff. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Luis Guzman.
Per the live + same day ratings, Code Black has been averaging a 1.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.92 million viewers. The Wednesday night drama is the network’s 13th highest rated scripted series (out of 18) in the key demo.

CBS ORDERS FIVE MORE EPISODES OF THE NEW MEDICAL DRAMA “CODE BLACK”
CBS has ordered five more episodes of the new medical drama CODE BLACK, bringing the total number of episodes to 18.
CODE BLACK wins its Wednesday (10:00-11:00PM) time period with 9.14 million viewers. The freshman drama also sees significant live + 7-day playback, adding 3 million viewers and increasing +67% in adults 18-49 and +56% in adults 25-54.

Currently the BEST DRAMA on prime time network TV BY FAR!!! This show is a keeper that is instantly addicting and draws viewers into the well written plots which use the characters better than any show I’ve seen since Friends ended its successful tenure! The show has absolute potential to keep its staying power through limitless seasons with its well cast ensemble and edgy thought provoking storylines! Simply the best new show in many years! A must renew for CBS

CBS please renew Code Black for many seasons to come! This show outshines Greys Annatomy with the wonderfully talented cast and exciting storylines from excellent writing/acting. This show already has a large following and it will be terrific to see it in for the long haul! Renew and keep for many many seasons!!!!
