Last month, CBS execs ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama Code Black. They apparently won’t be needing one of them. The network has now decided to produce five more episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles where underfunding and understaffing pile huge pressure on its staff. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Luis Guzman.
Per the live + same day ratings, Code Black has been averaging a 1.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.92 million viewers. The Wednesday night drama is the network’s 13th highest rated scripted series (out of 18) in the key demo.
Here’s their announcement:

What do you think? Do you like the Code Black TV show? Would you like to see it renewed for a second season or, cancelled instead?
Great show Please don’t scrap it. It could be another Grey’s if you open it up alittle with the relationships.
Engaging, intelligent, mesmerizing drama! bring it back.
the only, and I do mean ONLY, show I watch. we recently had to cancel DISH so we have off air antenna TV. no other program is worth my time. i look forward to it every Wednesday and missed it during the holidays (glad for last week’s repeat). please keep it coming. do not cancel!!
Love the show and the actors playing the characters. I like it better than Chicago Med which also aired about the same time! Keep it going!
This is definitely my favorite show. I can’t believe CBS is even considering canceling it. The acting is great, the characters intriguing and the medical action is correct down to the smallest detail. Please bring Papa and Mama back for keeps!

Was reading some the other comments I TOTALLY agree about the demographic For the older to elderly television is our ONLY entertainment!!! Housing medication and food are priorities All the rest luxuries. TV is my lifeline to anything close to non necessities !!!!!!!!!!!
